Auckland. —l3th instant, on warrant for landing at Auckland from the s.s. “ Mamari,” being a prohibited immigrant, John De Casto, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Brazil, thick-set build, clean-shaved except dark moustache ; dressed in dungaree trousers and white singlet, will probably make for the gumfields. Offender stowed away on the ship at Teneriffe, and was locked up in a cabin. He escaped through a porthole, and got ashore at Auckland. A reward of £2O is offered by the Shaw-Savill Company for his apprehension.

Te Awamutu. —6th instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for for obscene language,

breach of the peace, and disorderly conduct while drunk, James Henderson and Daniel Downey. Descriptions: First, age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., strong build, black hair, dark complexion, clean-shaved except heavy black moustache. Second, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., light build, fair complexion, fair hair, cleanshaved except small fair moustache, will probably be carrying swags; they are said to be good workmen, and were recently employed swamp-draining, and will probably be found together, as they were mates and said to have come from Australia.

Hastings. —lsth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle, value £ls (recovered), the property of Herbert Christian, bicycle-maker, Donald B. Mathison, age about thirty, height 6 ft., canvasser, medium build, fresh ruddy complexion, brown hair, sandy moustache only, slight defect in right eye, dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard black hat. He obtained the bicycle on the hire system, and sold it three days after to Mr. Lascelles, Napier.

Hawera. —12th instant, on warrant for false pretences on Robert Jackson Bunby, draper, Ernest Taylor, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in. or 6 in., stout build, dark-brown hair, dark complexion ; dressed in grey or black suit, hard black hat, new grey overcoat; walks with a swinging gait. Offender purchased clothing from complainant to the value of £4 15s. 6d., for which he gave a valueless cheque for £22, signed “ Ernest Taylor,” and drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Hawera. Offender was wearing a gold band ring set with an opal, which he purchased from a jeweller in Hawera on the 12th instant. (See Police Gazette, 1906, page 99.) Offender’s correct name is said to be Ernest jLipton, and parents supposed to reside in Palmerston North.

Wellington. —sth ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. 6d. a week towards the support of his illegitimate child, Joseph Frederick Roggiero, age twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of Dunedin, medium build, fair hair and complexion, fair moustache only. Wellington. —lsth January last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 13s. fine and costs for drunkenness, William Murray, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., horse-trainer and labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, light-blue eyes, slight scar on left thumb.

Ahaura. —l3th instant, that steps may be taken to compel him to contribute towards the support of his brother in

Burnham Industrial School, John McNeill, age twentyfive, height about 5 ft. in., labourer, colonial, slight build, thin features, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, slight dark moustache; dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard darkfelt hat, jockey appearance.‘ s '. Was last seen in Greymouth about the 25th December last, and is supposed to have come to the North Island. He habitually frequents racecourse meetings, which he attends with his brother Frank McNeill.

Westport. —l4th March, 1905, on warrant for theft of a bicycle, value £8 (recovered), the property of John Wilkinson Harker, bicycle-dealer, John Atkins, alias Atkinson, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., a labourer and bushman, stout build, oval face, straight nose, grey eyes, fair complexion, medium mouth always open, had been treated at the Westport Hospital for deafness, inside of ears swollen and stuffed with cotton wool. He obtained the bicycle on the hire system, and sold it for £1 10s.

Christchurch. —2oth instant, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Gaol for one month in default of paying £6 15s. arrears due on maintenance order for the support of his wife, Walter Frow, age forty-three, height 6 ft. 1 in., oarpenter, native of England, stout build, florid complexion, dark-brown curly hair on back of head, bald on top of head, large heavy sandy moustache, mark of burn or scald on forehead and left cheek, hangs his head down when speaking, sailor style of walking; dressed in blue clothes and dark cap.

Dunedin. —17th instant, on warrant for obtaining goods to the value of £2 10s. from Robert Rutherford Douglas, tailor, by means of false pretences, G. Dodds (name probably fictitious), age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., stoutish build, smart appearance, clean-shaved, brown hair; dressed in brown-tweed sac suit, coat rather long, with vent in back, grey or slate-coloured tweed hat, may be wearing a new brown suit with grey stripe.

Dunedin. —6th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his wife, Mary McGinn, Dunedin, Thomas McGinn, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Victoria, dark hair, fair complexion, grey eyes, clean-shaved, may have fair moustache, “ F. McG.” on left forearm ; dressed in blue suit and black Dr. Jim hat.

Dunedin. —26th January last, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for two months in default of paying £ll Bs. sd. fine and costs for trespassing on the Wingatui Racecourse, John Jennings, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, moustache only, stout build; a returned trooper.

Alexandra. —19th instant, that steps may be taken to compel him to provide for the maintenance of his children in the industrial school, Adam Edgar, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 9 in., baker and station cook, colonial, fair hair and moustache, blue eyes; fond of drink. - (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 318; and 1905, page 326.)

Owaka. —About November, 1904, on warrant for theft of a spanner and cold-chisel, value 3s. (recovered), the property of Alexander Garry, farmer, William Woodrow, age about twenty-four, height 5 ft. 9-J in., dark complexion, dark eyes, dark-brown hair, very small dark moustache only, stout build, “ W.W.” tattooed on right or left forearm; may seek employment on a farm. Parents reside at Woodhaugh, Dunedin. (See Police Gazette, 1905, page 402.) It is now supposed that offender is working in the Queenstown district.

Invercargill. —l3th instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. a week for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Adam Walsh Hall, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in. or 10 in., flax-miller, native of Scotland, slight build, light-brown hair, bluish-grey eyes, clean-shaved but may now have a small brown moustache, sallow complexion, small hands, long narrow feet, wears No. 7 boots, peculiar cast in left eye sometimes very noticeable, peculiar way of carrying one arm owing to its having been broken, scars on neck due to surgical operations, very thin lips ; usually wears a light-grey suit, harcl-felt hat or cap, and heavy gold watch-chain with gold guinea pendant.
