INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Sydney. —A warrant has been issued by the Sydney Water Police Bench for the arrest of Arthur Lewis Elwyn, charged, that being a clerk to the New South Wales Mont de Piete Deposit and Investment Company (Limited), Sydney, did steal the sum of £7O 10s., the property of the said company. He is about forty to forty-five years of age, 5 ft. 8 in., high, thin build, bow-legged, fair complexion and hair, fair moustache inclined to ginger ; generally wears a dark coat and vest and striped trousers (sometimes wears' a light-fawn suit), and boxer hat. Mersey District. Herbert J. K. Ray is charged on warrant issued on the 19 th ultimo by H. H. Me Fie, Esq., J.P., with having, on and since the 26th November,

1905, at Devonport, left his illegitimate male child, of which one Martha Steven is the mother, without means of support. Description: Age twenty-three, dark-brown hair, clean-shaved, dark-blue eyes, about 5 ft. 9 in. high, stout build, a labourer; stated to be working as a labourer at a building in Christchurch, New Zealand. Latrobe District. — Richard Connolly is charged on warrant issued by P. C. Maxwell, Esq., J.P., on the 24th ultimo, with having, on and since the 18th February, 1906, at Latrobe, left his wife, Jane Connolly, without means of support. Description: Age twenty-nine years, 5 ft. 9 in. high, fight-brown hair, moustache, and side-blocks, heavy eyebrows which meet, long straight nose, fresh complexion, grey eyes, one tooth is missing from upper jaw, weighs about 12 stone; has a long scar on one forefinger ; when last seen was wearing blue-serge coat and vest, light-tweed trousers, and black hard hat; may try to get to New Zealand. Offender took a ticket at Whitefoord Hills on the 20th for Hobart. (See Tasmania Police Gazette, 1906, page 36.)

England. age forty, medium height, a good penman, dark-brown hair, square shoulders, scar over one eyebrow, tattooed between finger and thumb of one hand.
