PERSONS WANTED.

Newton. —l2th ultimo, on warrant for theft of Bs. 6d., the money of Sceates and Darling, dairymen, Auckland, William James Rule, age forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., dairyman, native of England, medium build, fair complexion and hair, large fair moustache, thin face, very delicate appearance ; dressed in dark suit and cap; is very fond of drink. He was employed by complainant, and collected the money from a customer and failed to account for it. Other charges pending.

Rotorua. —About 2nd instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Kenneth Willis, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., painter, native of New Zealand, slight build, very white skin, light-brown hair inclined to be curly, blue eyes; dressed in dark coat;' and trousers, light vest; sometimes wears a full light suitjand Panama hat. Supposed to have come south.

Eltham. —26th ultimo, on warrant for forging and uttering a cheque to C. A. Wilkinson for £ls 10s., Archie Goodwynne, age between fifty and sixty, farm labourer, height 5 ft. 7 in., red hair and complexion, clean - shaved except moustache, bald on top of head, medium build. Offender was working for William Espin, farmer, and obtained a blank cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, which was filled in for the above amount, and purported to be signed by John William Espin. Offender will probably attempt to leave the colony.

Waitotara. —Bth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences on George McArthur, hotelkeeper, Waitotara, William Gunn, age fifty, height 5 ft. 6£ in., commercial traveller, native of England, fresh complexion, brown hair, fair moustache and close - cut beard turning grey, brown eyes, walks awkwardly with toes turned out. He gave complainant an order for £3, well knowing that he had no funds to meet it, and received £2 Bs. change. He is also charged with false pretences at Wellington. Raetihi. —4th March, 1903, on warrant of commitment to Raetihi Police-gaol for fourteen days for obscene language, and fourteen days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for being drunk and disorderly, William Martin, age twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, small fair moustache only. Offender was last heard of at Taumarunui, about February, 1905. He is now going under the name of Robert Me William, and will probably be found working at sawmills.

Taiiiape. —6th instant, that he may be served with a copy of minute of order to pay 7s. 6d. a week and £6 10s. expenses towards the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Edward J. Reardon, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in. or 8 in., ex-railway porter, medium build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, hard-looking face; fond of drink.

Pahiatua. —7th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Charles Alexander Byron Piesse, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., groom, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved, slight scar over right eye; dressed in dark - serge suit and check-tweed cap or Dr. Jim hat.

Masterton. —August, 1904, on warrant for deserting his wife, Ellen Nelson, at Masterton, Charles Nelson, age sixty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of Denmark, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, brown moustache only, blue dot on thumb, wart on chin. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 279, and 1905, page 57.) Offender was in Masterton about August, 1905.

Masterton. —26th ultimo, on warrant for assault, James O’Brien, alias Purcell, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman and labourer, native of Ireland, stout build, fresh complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair turning grey, small moustache only; dressed in dark-blue serge suit, and grey cap ; is said to have been in the American navy.

Blenheim.— l2th December last, on wararnt for defamatory libel on Mrs. Hounsell, of Flaxbourne, Thomas Hopgood, jun., age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., farmer and

shearer, medium build, slouching ploughman gait, dark complexion, dark hair beard whiskers and moustache, speaks well, large dark eyes, one eye blind but not noticeable except that it gives the appearance of a squint or cast; usually dressed in dark-tweed sac suit and soft black hat. He worked on the farm kept by his parents at Renwicktown.

Christchurch. —6th instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Margaret Annie Jones, at Riccarton, David Samuel Jones, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter, colonial, slight build, broad shoulders, pale complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark-brown eyes, clean-shaved, straight prominent nose; dressed in dark-tweed suit with small grey check, and hard black hat.

Dunedin.— 2nd instant, on warrant for obtaining £5 from Mungo Watson by false pretences, George Cameron (name probably fictitious), age forty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., dark hair, clean-shaved except dark moustache, smart appearance; dressed in dark sac suit and hard blaclcfelt hat. Offender borrowed the money by falsely representing that he was a runholder at Centre Bush, and was sending his two boys to complainant’s school.

Lawrence. —lst instant, on warrant for deserting his wife, Agnes Cowles, at Lawrence, Richard John Cowles, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., fair hair and moustache, slight build ; dressed in dark clothes; has been leading a stallion in the Tuapeka district for the last four years.
