PROPERTY STOLEN.
Auckland. —On 3rd ultimo, WILLIAM WEBDALE, clerk, Market Street, was assaulted and robbed of a gentlemen’s gold hunting Waltham lever watch and a 9 carat double gold chain, twisted pattern, with a greenstone Masonic emblem at end; value, ±24 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Thomas Kennedy (see Police Gazette, 1904, page 351) and John Sidney Hines (see Police Gazette, 1905, page 69). The former is now in custody charged with a similar offence, and the latter is on the gumfields at Henderson.
Napier.—3rd ultimo, the property of JOHN FULFORD, carter, a ladies’ gold ring, with diamond in centre; value, £2. Identifiable.-
Levin. —17th ultimo, from a paddock, the property of DANIEL HANNAN, settler, a dapple-grey mare, rising five years old, 16 hands high, no visible brands, cover on wheu stolen; value, £3O. Identifiable.
Wellington. —l7th February last, from the dwelling of THOMAS J. C. WARREN, 23a, Hobson Street, a pair of gold opal-shaped sleeve-links, J.W. engraved thereon, value £1 155.; a 15-carat gold chain, plain long links, value £3 10s.; two plain gold studs, value 15s. Links identifiable. Breaking and entering.
Wellington —Between 29th March and Ist April, 1904, from the s.s. “ Waikare,” the property of JOHN LETHBRIDGE, Dunedin, two gold lings, each set with five pearls; a gold ring, set wiih two cats-eyes and three diamonds; a gold ring, set with a moonstone ; a cairngorm pendant, set in gold; a g Id brooch, with three pea l Is; a gold brooch, with gieenstone shamrock ; a girls’ new leather dressing-case, with fittings, about 10 in. or 12 in. long by 6 in. or 8 in. wide : value, £2O. Identifiable.
Christchurch. ARTHUR SEFTON, drover, a gentlemen’s Waterbury watch, and a 9 carat gold chain, curb pattern, Masonic pendant attached ; value, £5. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —l4th ultimo, from High Street, the property of NATHANIEL CHRIS I’IAN, Peterborough Street, a gentlemen’s Coventry-Humber bicycle, blackenamelled, straight handle bars with white grips, rat-trap pedals ; value, £lB. Identifiable.
Lyttelton. —Between 14th March and 14th ultimo, from the dwellirgof GASPER MATASON, fisherman, a dark-blue pilot-cloth three-quarter double breasted overcoat; value, £4 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Robert Haydon, age about forty, height 5 ft. 11 in., medium build, a labourer, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; residing at Lyttelton.
Temuka.— 24th ultimo, from outside the Domain gates, the property of WILLIAM BAILEY CULLEN, a gentlemen’s Premier bicycle, No. 1072, black-enamelled, grips broken at ends; value, £l4. Identifiable.
Dunedin. —17th or 18th ultimo, from a wash-house, the property of ANN STENTIFORD, Maclaggan Street, an Empire clothes-ringer, small horse-shoe on one side, handle loose; value, £l. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Allen, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., a fireman, stout build, dark complexion, very full eyes, dark hair, cleanshaved. May now be employed on a boat.
Dunedin. —22nd ultimo, from the guard’s van, between Kokonga and Dunedin, the property of the RAILWAY DEPARTMENT, a small leather cash bag, locked with brass padlock, containing five £5 notes and seventy five £1 notes. Not identifiable.
