Northcote. —Between 22nd and 24th ultimo, a doublebarreled muzzle-loading gun, No. 12 bore, “Riley” engraved on left lock, the property of STEPHEN GILBERT ROUNTREE, accountant; an old blue-vicuna sac coat, size 5, two tears on left sleeve, the property of THOMAS LONERGAN, value 10s.; two tins of jam, the property of F. WRIGHT, value Is. 3d. Breaking and entering.
Hastings. —l3th ultimo, from JAMES SIMMONDS, road-overseer, a nearly new yellow-coloured short oilskin coat; value, 15s. Identifiable.
Eketahuna. —18th or 19th ultimo, from the paddock of PHILIP LEWIS, carpenter, a dark-bay light-hack mare, seven years old, 14J hands high, branded 7 on off shoulder, shaggy mane and tail, broken to harness ; value, £ls. Identifiable.
Nelson. — 9th ultimo, from the cabin of s.s. “ Wairoa,” between Nelson and Takaka, the property of JOHN A. McINTOSH,. commercial traveller, a dark-grey West of England worsted sac coat, side pockets, breast and match pockets ; value, £2. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —17th June last, from the jockeys’ hall, Riccarton, the property of JOHN PINE, a gentlemen’s silver-hunting stop watch, No. 410045, “E. 8.” engraved on case, an 18-carat gold double albert with small links attached ; value, £lO. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 238.)
Christchurch. —l6th ultimo, from Cockayne’s Boardinghouse, Manchester Street, the property of GEORGE W. SMART, Wellington, a dark-grey tweed vest, a gentlemen’s open-faced Waltham keyless watch, has a name engraved inside, an open-faced metal stop-watch, a 15-carat gold albert cable-pattern chain with small links, a Kruger sovereign on a link to run on chain, an amber cigaretteholder, a pocket-knife, and a penholder; value, about £lO. Identifiable.
Ashburton. — Between 22nd and 24th ultimo, from the shop of W. BAIN, ironmonger, about twenty-four razors, a number of pocket-knives, and an alarm-clock. Razors identifiable by private mark on case. Value, about £5. Breaking and entering by forcing door open.
Tapanui.—lßth or 19th ultimo, from the trap-shed of JOHN F. PIERBERT, sheep-farmer, Ardmore Station, a buggy-rug, khaki-coloured, waterproof on outside, blue-and-red-tartan squares on inside, a piece of leather and ring on rug, two darns with grey thread on right-hand bottom corner, “ Mosgiel Woollen Factor} 7 ” on corner of rug ; value, £2 10s. Identifiable. The shed is close to the main road and the rug may have been taken by a swagger.
