Auckland. —13th instant, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 35., fine and costs for drunkenness, Robert Stewart, age sixty-four, height 5 ft. lOJin., labourer and ex-constable, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair and grey eyes.

Auckland. —30th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Mount Eden Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 13s. 6d., fine and costs for drunkenness, Alfred Ashendon, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, fresh complexion, sandy moustache, grey hair, grey eyes, fond of drink ; will probably be found on the gum-fields.

Thames.— -30th ultimo, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay £3 every four weeks towards the maintenance of his three children at Paeroa, Reginald May Atkinson, age thirty eight, height sft. Bin., a miner, native of England, slight build, rather staring full blue eyes, long thin nose, light-brown hair, sandy drooping moustache, round shoulders, two upper front teeth out, slight impediment in speech; may have gone to the Inglewood district where his brother is employed as surveyor. He was £6 in arrears on the 22nd July, 1904.

Hawera.— 6th instant, on warrant for false pretences on John Hook, licensee Commercial Hotel, Albert W. B. Davies, age about thirty-five, height about 6ft., slight build, brown hair, moustache only, reddish complexion; dressed in dark clothes and hard black hat, wearing a gold double watch-chain, with small cross in centre; was recently employed as insurance agent by the New York Insurance Company, Auckland, and represents that he is still canvassing for the company. He was in Wellington on the 10th

instant, and left by the 4 p.m. train for Carterton. His correct name is now said to be Albert W. Bulmer-Davis. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 271.)

Foxton. —sth ultimo, on warrant for deserting his wife, Ellen Nelson, at Foxton, Charles Nelson, age sixty-three, height 5 ft. 9in., a labourer, native of Denmark, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, brown moustache only, blue dot on thumb. Had about £BOO with him, and left for Auckland stating he intended going to Fr’isco and St. Louis.

Shannon. —On the 29th or 30th ultimo the hair was maliciously cut off the mane and tail of a horse, the property of JOHN BRADLEY, farmer. A reward of £5 will be paid for evidence leading to the conviction of the offender.

Otaki. —20th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for assault, Peter Paul, age about thirty, height 5 ft. in., flax-mill-hand, stout build, dark complexion, dark moustache only, dark-tweed suit, slouch hat; has the appearance of a half-caste Spaniard or Japanese. He is a good scutcher, and will be probably employed at some flax-mill.

Christchurch. —20th instant, on warrant for disobeying an order of Court to pay 7s. a week for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, at Christchurch, John Davies Hean, alias David Martin, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. Bin., native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes ; was wearing a gold presentation v/atch with his name engraved thereon ; is a returned member of the Ist Contingent, and was employed as carpenter at Burnham Industrial School, and may now be found working in the North Island. He was £3 17s. in arrears on the 14th instant.

St. Andrew’s. —10th instant, on warrant for theft of a lamb (recovered), the property of George Lyall, value 10s., Arthur YYilcox, age thirty, height about 6 ft., labourer, generally works on a farm or sheep station, slight build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved except dark moustache; generally wears a cap, and holds his head down when walking. His parents reside at Dunback, about nine miles from Palmerston. (See Police Gazette, 1904, page 272.)

Dunedin. against him for the support of his child, an inmate of the Industrial School, Robert Murray Newlands, age about thirty-four, height about sft. 10in., a blacksmith and labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, dark hair and complexion, left eye blind, fond of drink ; dressed in darktweed suit and hard hat.

Dunedin.— l3th instant, that proceeding may be taken against him for the maintenance of his child, an inmate of the Industrial School, James Woodford, age twentythree, height about 5 ft. 7 in., a labourer, native of New Zealand, slim build, dark hair and eyes, has a jockey appearance, and is generally employed about hotels as groom ; is fond of drink.
