INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

New South Wales. —lnquiry for Thomas Joseph Jones, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., a labourer, native of New South Wales, dark complexion and hair, dark-blue eyes, moustache only, white spot on back of head, is supposed to have been in Melbourne in April last, going under the name of Sam Clarke, and is now said to be in the Auckland district employed at a flax-mill or factory in company with Henry Slade, Joseph Scully, and John Williamson. Inquiry through the Auckland police that he may be induced to make provision for the support of his wife in New South Wales.

Melbourne. —lnquiry requested by the Department for Neglected Children and Reformatory Schools for Edwin Newman Elliott, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., a blacksmith, fresh complexion, blue eyes, cast in one eye, high forehead, light-brown hair, brown beard trimmed, deep voice; dressed in black Beaufort coat and soft hat; wears a thin gold watch-chain; upright, stylish walk. Is said to have been heard of in Christchurch, but no trace of him can be obtained there. If found a report to be forwarded giving his circumstances, and if prepared to contribute towards the support of his boy. (04/702.)

Perth. —Inquiry requested for the whereabouts of May Calden, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 3in. or 4in., domestic servant, medium build, fair hair, brown eyes, fresh complexion ; generally wears black skirt and blouse. Inquiry to be made with the greatest caution, as it is essential that she should not know that inquiries are being made.
