Joy Marriott Marshall is inquired for by the Phillipstown police, Christchurch, at the instance of the Rev. Mr. Cox. Description : A native of New Zealand, master at the Wanganui College, thirty-six years of age, about 5 ft. 11 in. high, stoutish build, clean-shaved, sandy or fair hair, sallow complexion, high forehead; wearing dark clerical dress, white turned-down collar, white tie, and black-and-white straw hat with a black-and-white band. He was in a depressed state owing to a recent illness, and left Mr. Cox’s house, Opawa, suddenly on the 2nd instant. He has a brother, Professor Marshall, at the University, Dunedin.

Kate Gosling is inquired for by the Mount Cook police. Description: A native of New Zealand, waitress, twenty years of age, 5 ft. 4 in. or 5 in. high, stout build, dark-brown hair, dark eyes, sallow complexion; was wearing a black dress, fawn coat, and black-velvet toque. She left her home in Tory Street on the 9th July last to join a man named Thomas Rush, alias Douglas, but no trace of her can now be obtained. Rush, alias Douglas, is a labourer, about forty years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. or 4 in. high, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown curly hair, bald on top of head, brown moustache only ; dressed in blue sac suit and brown soft hat. It is said the missing friend is enciente to him.

Alexander Patterson is inquired for by the Hunterville police with a view of serving him with a summons for attempting to get on a train when in motion. Description : A native of Scotland, labourer and sailor, about twenty-eight years of age, about 5 ft. 11 in. high, slight build, dark hair and complexion, dark eyes, Roman nose with slight scar on the bridge, very slight dark moustache only ; dressed in blueserge sac suit, and dark skull-cap worn at back of head. Was last seen at Mangaonoho on the 17th May last.

James Aloysics Thompson (may assume the name of J. Johnston) is inquired for by the Sydenham police at the instance of his mother. Description : A native of New Zealand, labourer, sixteen years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, very fair complexion, auburn hair, large brown eyes, square shoulders, long scar on one of his wrists; dressed in a grey saddle-tweed suit and grey-tweed cap. He left Christchurch on the 20th April last, and joined the barque “ Kalisto,” and was discharged from her on the 17th August last at the Bluff.
