(Circular No. 26/03.) The following memorandum from the Treasury is published for general information and attention. W. Dinnie, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 6th August, 1903.

Wellington, sth August, 1903. Memorandum from the Treasury to Heads of Departments. Owing to the frequency of vouchers being sent to the Treasury for payment many months, and in some cases years, after the services were rendered, I am directed to refer you to clause 84 of the Treasury Regulations, which directs that the abstract for expenditure be sent in immediately on the conclusion of the service, or, in the case of supplies, not later than the end of the month in which the supplies were received, and to inform you that in future strict compliance with the regulation will be required, any breach of which will render the officer in default liable to the penalty of £1 which may be imposed under Regulation 10. Be good enough to notify accordingly any officer of your Department who is authorised to incur expenditure. R. J. Collins, Assistant Secretary.
