Auckland. —John Barrett, coal-miner, reports stolen from his bedroom in Waters’s Coffee Palace, on the 4th or sth ultimo, a silver American hunting keyless watch, white dial, No. 49871, maker Congress Watch Company, G.B. scratched on inside of case ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Newmarket (Auckland). —Harold Teek, carter, reports stolen from his bedroom in the Royal George Hotel, on the sth instant, a silver Waltham hunting-watch, No. 8089214, a silver chain with a 5-cent silver coin attached ; value, £5. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Arthur Trenery, a native of England, a remittance-man, about forty years of age, about 5 ft. 9 in. high, stout build, dark, pale complexion, clean-shaved except dark moustache, dark hair, large hump between the shoulders. He was boarding at the Royal George Hotel, and is supposed to have gone North.

Papakura. —John Corey, farmer, reports stolen from a hut, between the 10th and 24th ultimo, a double-barrelled muzzle-loading gun, 13 in. bore, rusty, makers supposed Mattis or Matson, one of hammers loose, ramrod roughly made of lance-wood ; two boxes of caps; and about two yards of dark waterproof material with red stripes on inside, could be worn as a cape : value, £2 14s. Suspicion attached to James Mason (name probably fictitious), supposed colonial, about twenty-three years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, slim build, clean-shaved except fair moustache ; dressed in old grey-tweed clothes and straw hat.

Spit (Napier). —James Knowles, jun., pilot, reports stolen from the pilot-station, on the 19th or 20th ultimo, a 9-carat heavy gold ring, with shield-shaped greenstone, a white angular mark in stone, B. K. engraved on inside of ring; a 9-carat gold ring, buckle pattern, set with a bloodstone ; a silk gold-mounted albert, shield attached, engraved thereon, “ Presented by Mrs. Myles ”; also a greenstone pendant resembling a shark’s tooth: value, £l6. Suspicion attached to John Whelan, known as “ Curly Whelan.” Description : A native of England, labourer, about twentyseven years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. high, black eyes, clean-shaved, dark complexion and hair, nose turned up at point, appears to have been broken ; dressed in light-tweed suit and straw hat or black skull-cap.

Woodville. —Charles Henry Cress, jockey, Master ton, reports stolen from his bedroom at Cairn’s boardinghouse, on the 27th ultimo, a 9-carat gold band ring set with a large red stone, and a ladies’ 18-carat gold ring, bad been set with two rubies and a diamond in centre, one of the rubies missing; value, £9. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Vincent O'Neill. Description : An ex-jockey, about nineteen years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, round fresh face, clean-shaved ; dressed in brown or grey suit, Dr. Jim hat; follows up race-meetings.

Pahiatua. —George Hunter, licensee, reports stolen from the bar of the Post-office Hotel, between the 20th and 22nd ultimo, a very old silver hunting lever Rotherham watch, No. 5035, J. W. H. engraved on inside of case, a silver serpent-pattern chain with bar missing attached ; value, £4. Suspicion attached to James Waldmann, a colonial, labourer, about twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, fresh oomplexion, dark hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache; dressed in dark-tweed coat and vest, light trousers, and straw hat; is fond of drink.

Tenui. —Ella Plyger, cook, reports supposed stolen from her box at Mr. Handyside’s station, Akitio, on the 21st or 22nd ultimo, a gentlemen’s gold cluster ring set with eight diamonds ; value, £25. Identifiable.

Masterton. —Daniel Cosgrove, labourer, reports stolen from a portmanteau in his bedroom in Broadbent’s boardinghouse, between the 25th and 28th ultimo, a silver Waltham hunting-watch (No. 1008537), a silver chain, a silver-mounted greenstone about long with a small piece of chain attached, a leather purse, a rupee with small hole in it, and a white tennis-shirt with blue stripe; value, £2 19s. 4d. Identifiable.

Featherston. —James Crawford reports that on the night of the Ist instant his hotel was broken into, the safe carried away, forced open, and £1 15s. stolen.

Patea. —Hugh McCarty, farmer, reports stolen from his bedroom, on or about the 6th ultimo, a silver hunting lever watch, No. 54430 (maker, Coates, Christchurch) ; value, £4. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Thomas Sinclair. Description : A native of New Zealand, a labourer, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 11 in. high, slight build, stooped shoulders, brown hair, clean-shaved except moustache, fair complexion, has a cast in one eye; fond of drink and frequents hotels.

Wanganui. —Oliver Fitzgerald, railway surface-man, reports stolen from his dwelling, on the 12th ultimo, a meerschaum pipe and a small American alarm-clock; value, 14s. 6d. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Ryan. Description : A native of Ireland, a labourer, about forty years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, sunburnt complexion, dark hair and moustache; dressed in dark faded tweed suit and dark soft-felt hat; carried a large blanket swag; is fond of drink. He offered a meerschaum pipe (similar to the one stolen) at Fordell.

Wanganui. —Len. King, jockey, reports stolen from his bedroom in the Royal Hotel, Hawera, on the 18th ultimo, a small brown handbag with W. G. on leather tab, containing two pairs of riding-boots (L. K. on inside of tops), also other light riding-gear, and tooth brush and powder; value, £6.

Wellington. —John Steadman, shearer, reports stolen from him at the Te Aro Hotel, on the 6th or 7th ultimo, a sovereign; two half-sovereigns; two New South Wales postagestamps, Condoblin post-mark partly stamped on them ; a blue-leather purse; a ladies’ silver lever hunting-watch, chased, steel hands. “London Lever, Swiss made ” on the dial; a silver rope-pattern chain about 6in. long, silver pendants, anchor, cross, and two hearts: value, £7 3s. 6d.

Christchurch. —A. E. Williams, labourer, reports stolen from his tent, on the 27th January last, a Swiss open-faoed metal watch, No. 415525 ; value, £1 ss. Identifiable.

Dunedin. —Alexander Shaw, labourer, Walker Street, reports that about 10 p.m., 6th ultimo, he was stuck up in Maclaggan Street by four men (names unknown, and not identifiable), who assaulted and robbed him of a silver Geneva open-faced watch, No. 4231; value, £4.

Milton. —Thomas Dickson, farmer, Waihola, reports that between the 12th and 27th ultimo his dwelling was broken into, and the following stolen: A ladies’ silver open faced keyless Defiance watch, No. 76877, maker Stewart Dawson and Go., a ladies’ silver albert rope-pattern chain with small silver tassel attached ; a black and two yellow purses; a deposit receipt, No. 810581,0 n the Bank of New Zealand, Milton, for £SOO, maturing on 10th December, 1902; nine £5 notes and five £1 notes on the Bank of New Zealand.
