RANFURLY, Governor
IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and the Acts amending the same, I, Uchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that from and after the date hereof hares shall cease to be within the operation of the said Acts within the area described in the Schedule hereto, comprising the Ahuriri Riding and part of the Otakaika Riding, County of Waitaki.
SCHEDULE
All that area in the Otago and Canterbury Land Districts bounded towards the east and north-east generally by the Mackenzie and Waimate Counties from the summit of the Southern Alps to the confluence of the Waitaki and Maruwhenua Rivers; thence towards the south-east and south generally by the Maruwhenua River to the source of its north branch, near Maruwhenua Pass, and thence by a right line to the said Maruwhenua Pass; thence towards the south-west and west generally by the Maniototo and Vincent Counties to the summit of the Southern Alps ; and thence towards the north-west by the summit of the Southern Alps to the place of commencement. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of August, one thousand nine hundred and one.
