Auckland. — John Edmonds is charged on warrant with having, on the 20th ultimo, on the Epsom Road, assaulted Peter McElwain, Inspector for the Tramway Company, Auckland. Description: About sft. sin. high, medium build, clean-shaved, thin features, round bullethead, fresh complexion, has his hands always in his pockets, smokes cigarettes and frequents racecourses; dressed in dirty dark suit, light skull-cap, and blue-and-black footballscarf. When asked for his ticket he violently assaulted the Inspector. Other charges pending.

Auckland. —John MoCrae is charged on warrant with having on the 29th ultimo, at Auckland, indecently assaulted Alice Seunah. Description : A native of New Zealand, a cooper, thirty-three years of age, 5 ft. 10 in. high, medium build, fair complexion, reddish hair, full whiskers and moustache, blue eyes; dressed in dark tweed suit and hard-felt hat and lace-up boots. On the 29th ultimo he was discharged at the Stipendiary Magistrate’s Court for assault, and is supposed to have left the district. His father lives at Mangere.

Wanganui. Pinjar is charged on warrant of commitment to Wanganui Gaol for twenty-four hours, in default of paying 11s. fine and costs for a breach of the borough by-laws. Description: Italian, organ-grinder, about forty years of age, about sft. 8 in. high, stout build, very dark hair and eyes, large mouth, wide nostrils, small darkish moustache ; generally dressed in dark sac suit, black hard hat, and soft grey shirt; travels about with an organ and monkey, and is generally to be found where races are being held. (See Police Gazette, 1901, page 181.) He was summoned to the Wanganui Court on the 19th April last, but failed to appear.

Dunedin. — Frederick Hall is charged on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Gaol for forty-eight hours in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the Dunedin City by-laws. Description : About thirty years of age, dark complexion, clean-shaved except dark moustache ; dressed in dark suit. He carries a small leather bag, and travels about selling razor-strops and paste-boxes, &c. He was summoned to the Dunedin Court on the 24th June last, but failed to appear.

Orepuki.— James Murphy is charged on warrant of commitment to Invercargill Gaol for two months in default of paying £5 14s. fine and costs for a breaoh of the peace and damage to a window at Orepuki on the 15th September, 1900. Description: A native of Ireland, a labourer, about twenty-nine years of age, 6 ft. high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, very small ginger moustaobe only, grey restless eyes, large nose, small chin, sloucby gait, dirty appearance ; usually dressed in blue serge suit and cap. Is fond of drink. Was at Waikaia and Gore, but may have left the colony for Melbourne.

Melbourne. —£loo reward will be paid for the apprehension of the two escapees, Sparks and O’Connor, or £SO for the arrest of either. Sparks’s proper name is Patrick McGuire ; his father resides at Maryborough, his sister, Mrs. Hanrahan, lives at No. 70, Nightingale Street, Balaclava; and his brothers are mining at Pitfield.
