Auckland. —J. H. Hannan, draper, Victoria Street, reports stolen from his shop-door, on the 29th June last, a new grey suit, size 6; “Cambridge Brand, Auckland Manufacture,” on the tab, plain bone buttons; value, £l. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. —George Powlds, draper, reports stolen from the guard’s van on the train at Rotorua, on the 15th ultimo, a brown-tweed overcoat, large-check pattern, very deep collar, has two outside pookets; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland.— Christian Mathieson, sailor, reports stolen from the Sailors’ Home, on or about the 17th ultimo, a whitecanvas bag containing a suit of navy-blue clothes, a greyflannel singlet, a coloured-cotton shirt, a pair of yellow socks, a brown soft-felt hat, and a pair of old laoe-up boots ; value, £2 17s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland. —Thomas Hodgson, manager Northern Bootfactory, reports stolen from the door of the factory (Lower Hobson Street), on the 19th instant, a pair of women’s dairy boots, size 6, “ 103 ” stamped on the heel; two pairs of men’s Balmoral boots, sizes 6 and 7, “451 ” stamped on the heels; and three pairs of glace court shoes : value, £2 Is. 6d. Identifiable except shoes.

Auckland. —Oscar Hogan, sailor, reports stolen from the ketch “ Lizette,” at Auckland, on the 15th instant, a new black-oilskin coat, with red collar; value, £l. Identifiable.

Newmarket (Auckland). — John Bryce Turner reports stolen from a building on the Manakau Road, on the 22nd or 23rd instant, a hand-saw, a Disston keyhole saw, a brace, a bag containing bits, a screw driver, a 9 in. bevel, a 9 in. square, a in. two If in. chisels, a fin. chisel, and a smoothingplane ; nearly all have “ J. B. T.” or “ Turner ” branded on them : value, £2 os. 9d. Identifiable.

Devonport. —Frank Marsaen, commercial traveller, reports stolen from the Victoria Wharf waiting-room, on 17th instant, a go-cart containing a cream-coloured eider-down quilt with maroon frill, about 3 ft. by 2 ft.; a half blanket (white) hemmed with pink wool : value, £5 ss. The go-cart has been recovered, but the quilt and blanket are still missing. Suspicion attached to a girl about twelve years of age.

Avondale. —Edward Noble, labourer, reports stolen from outside his dwelling, New Lynn, on the sth instant, a bluish-brown-coloured double rug with red streaks, a white single blanket with red border, and a grey Crimean shire with turneddown collar ; value, £1 13s. 6d. Identifiable.

Rawene. —George William Kendall, storekeeper, reports stolen at Hokianga, on the 7th instant, a sack containing about 2cwt. kauri-gum; value, £lO. Identification doubtful.

Napier. —Frank Mountjoy, joiner, reports stolen from the porch of the Baptist Church, Tennyson Street, on the 30th ultimo, a nearly new light-grey mackintosh, has two sidepockets with flaps, two splits at back, pink-and-blue plaid lining, velvet tab, one end has been resewn, herringbone stitch at back of collar ; a pair of nearly new kid gloves with brass clasps, two stitches undone at back of left thumb and forefinger, were in the coat-pocket: value, £2 4s. 6d.

Hawera. — Edwin J. Archibald is charged on warrant with the theft, on or about the 6th May, 1901, of £7 14s. lid., the money of the Hawera Co-operative Dairy Factory Company, Limited. Offender is supposed colonial, about twentyeight years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, brown hair, small brown moustache, prominent nose; generally dressed in dark clothes, neat appearance, rather fond of drink, his parents reside at No. 11, Grant Road, Wellington, and his brother is in the Survey Department, Wellington. Was last seen at Hawera on the 24th instant. He was seoretary to the above company, and converted the money to his own use. Other oharges pending.

Stratford. —Charles Frederick Cork and George Smart’s shops broken into. Suspicion attached to Francis John Milne, who was arrested for other offences by Constable W. H. Ryan and Constable C. Bleasel, Stratford police, and discharged. Description : A colonial of Scotch parentage, a carpenter, about twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, moustache only ; generally works as a saw-mill hand.

Wellington. —A. Hornby, charged on warrant with breaking and entering Laery and Company’s Auction Mart on the 20th instant, and stealing two gold watches, value £8

(recovered) and an old nickel-plated open-faced stop watch, glass cracked, “Made in Sweden” on dial, value 10s., has been arrested by Acting Detective A. Cameron, Wellington police. Open-faced watch still missing.

Wellington. —William Henry Tisdal), gunmaker, reports that about the 13th of April lasted. Williams (name supposed fictitious) hired for a day a double-barrelled breech-loading gun, maker “ Beattie,” value £5, and has failed to return it. Williams is about eighteen years of age, medium height and build, very dark hair, and fairly well dressed in dark clothes. He falsely represented he resided at No. 6, Ghuznee Street, and that he worked at Luke’s Foundry.

Thorndon (Wellington). —Frank J. Dyer, 5, Park Street, reports stolen from Popham’s Stables, on the IBth ultimo, a gentlemen’s ten-ribbed umbrella, covered with a silk-and-cotton mixture, has a cherry-wood handle with knob ; value, £l. Identifiable.

Mount Cook (Wellington). —William Let ham, Messrs. Kempthorne, Prosser, and Co., reports stolen from his coat, in the pavilion of the College football-grounds, on the 17th instant, an 18-oarat gold ring, with diamond in claw setting ; value, £2O. Identifiable.

Mount Cook (Wellington). —Frederick Simmons and William Illingworth report stolen from a shed at the back of No. 75, Taranaki Street, on the„24th or 25th ultimo, a jack, a rabbet and a smooth plane, a rip-saw, a claw-hammer, oilstone in case, a carpenter’s kit containing gouges, small chisels, &c.; all branded “F. S.”; the property of F. Simmons; value, £1 10s: a keyhole-saw and a band saw stamped “ W. Illingworth,” a ratchet-brace, “ G. I.” stamped on it; a leather pouch, containing bits from in. to lin. ; a leather nail-pocket, containing a 3 ft. rule : the property of W. Illingworth : value, £2 53. Identifiable.

Ziele reports stolen from outside Tyree and Co.’s warehouse, on the 16th instant, a gentlemen’s Beeston Humber bicycle, No. 68208 on several places, “Beeston” stamped on front tube, 26in. frame, electro-plated bolt through each joint, roller chain, 82 gear, Dunlop tires, extra cover on back tire; value, £32.
