George Walter Dore is inquired for by the Dunedin police, with a view of compelling him to support his three children. Description: A native of New Zealand, a labourer and shearer, was formerly hotelkeeper at Butcher’s Gully, near Alexandra, twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in. high, slim build, reddish complexion, clean-shaved exoept sandy moustache and side whiskers ; usually wears a dark suit. Was at St. Helen’s Station, Canterbury, shearing, in December last, and about three weeks ago was said to be stopping at the Occidental or some other hotel in Wellington. David Sharpe is inquired for by the Auckland police, at the instance of John Booth, Bon Accord Cottage, Anglesea Street, Auckland. Description : A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, an engineer, twenty-five years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. high, stout build, dark hair, full face, dark complexion. Is a good football player. He arrived in New Zealand about four years ago, and left his wife and child unprovided-for at Frasersborough, Scotland. About three years ago he was working for Fraser and Tinney, ii;onfounders, and is supposed to have gone to Wellington to work there at some of the foundries. Anthony Hanson is inquired for by the Waiuku police Description : A native of Sweden, a gum-digger, forty-nine years of age, 5 ft. 5 in. high, stout build, square features, fair hair and moustache, blue eyes ; was wearing a blue sac coat and trousers, no boots. Was last seen on the 25th March, 1901, at Orua Bay, Awhitu. Fears are entertained for his safety, as he was melancholy, and may commit suicide.

James Poole is inquired for by the Auckland police at the instance of James Nicholson, on behalf of the wife of missing friend. Description : A native of England, an ammunitionmanufacturer, fifty-one years of age, dark complexion, hair turning grey. He left England on the 21st June, 1900, by the Orient steamer “ Orotava,” for New Zealand, and is supposed to have come to the colony to work for the Colonial Ammunition Company, at Auckland.

Frederick Goodwin is inquired for by the Queensland police that a cheque lost by him at Rocky Creek, in April, 1899, may be forwarded. On the 13th December, 1900, he wrote from No. 87, Bathurst Street, Sydney, to Waterson and Drake, drawers of the cheque, which was for £4 4s. 6d., acquainting them of his loss. He is a shearer, and arrived in Wellington on the 31st January last, and went on by the s.s. “ Westralia ” to Lyttelton, where he landed. (01/560.) (See Police Gazette, 1899, page 178.) John Jennings, inquired for by the Paeroa police, has paid £1 fine for non-attendance as a juryman at an inquest; he is unable to pay costs. (See Police Gazette, 1901, page 39.)
