Auckland. —Gray Brothers, importers, report stolen from the yacht “ Kotere,” at Mechanics Bay, on the 23rd or 24th December last, a brown hand-bag, a sweater, a pair of white trousers, a pair of brown-tweed trousers, a blaok-and-white oheck rug made like a bag, a yellow-blue-and-white check rug, a dark-brown and a black-and-grey check rug; value, £7.

Hobsonville. —George Clifton reports stolen from his store, on the 13th or 14th ultimo, two sacks of gum, a parcel of rescraped and 20 lb. of good brown gum ; 12 lb. Derby and Juno and 4 lb. Melrose tobaoco : value, £l7 Bs.

Whangarei. —George Clotworthy, settler, reports stolen from the wharf, between the 21st and 24th November, 1900, two timber-jacks (the stock of one is split and secured by two iron bolts, the other has one toe loose and the handle slightly bent, one of the nuts on guide has been turned by a chisel and marked by it) and an iron snatchblock ; value, £ll 10s.

Waitekauri. —Elizabeth S. Harvey reports stolen from Rowe and Company’s shop, on the 24th December last, a ladies’ double-breasted fawn-coloured jacket, with fawn-fur collar, large light-fawn-coloured buttons down the front; value, £2 16s.

Tauranga. —John Dale, draper, reports that, on the 15th or 16th December last, his shop was broken into, and the following stolen: A Royal Enfield bicycle, maker’s name on nickel plate on front, 28 in. wheel, 23 in. frame, Dunlop tires, Brook’s saddle, felt tips to handles, B.S.A. chain ; fifty-seven ladies’hem-stitched white-cambric handkerchiefs, twelve gentlemen’s coloured silk handkerchiefs, and ten long green neck-scarfs with white stripe, three pairs blue-dun-garee trousers, four men’s grey flannels, and two blue- and one groy-tweed coat, size 3: value, £25.

New Plymouth.— A. S. Hasell, tent-maker, reports stolen from Roberts’s yard, on the 12th December, 1900, a nearly new English pigskin saddle ; value, £4. Identifiable.

Wanganui. —John McNeill, milkman, Aramoho, reports stolen from Jefferson’s stable, about the 3rd November last, a second-hand Royal Enfield bicycle, No. 336, straight handle-bars, one grip off, plain steel pedals, no mud-guards; value, £l2.

Wellington. —T. R. Jones, contractor, reports stolen from an old building in Harbour Street, between the Bth and 10th ultimo, a steel tape-measure ; value, £2 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Thomas Morton Highet, Roseneath, reports stolen from his stable, between the 19th and 28th November last, a light colonial-made saddle, not much worn, pommel scratched, a double leather girth and rusty stirrupirons ; value, £1 10s. Identification doubtful.

Wellington.— James Godber, confectioner, Cuba Street, reports stolen from his refreshment-rooms, on the 7th December last, a small plain electro-plated teapot; value, £l. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Frederick Knigge reports stolen from his coat in Laery’s auction-mart, on the 27th December last, nine £1 notes and a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, Wellington, for £3 7s. 6d., drawn by Staub and Bradley in favour of A. Bradley.

Manners Street (Wellington). —Luke and Sons report stolen from their foundry, between the 17th and 19th November last, five fitters’ hammers, each about lb., marked F.M.L., and a round-nose chisel, branded L.S.; value, £l.

Clyde Quay (Wellington). —Frederick Cooke, 45, Roxburgh Street, reports stolen from his clothes at the Clyde Quay Baths, on the 18th December last, a new silver openfaced Waterbury watoh, “ Short wind” printed on the works inside, heart on baok with initials F.C. soratohed on it; value, £1 2s. 6d.

Blenheim. —Patrick Shannon Banks, charged with the theft of James Hamilton’s horse and gig, has been arrested by Deteotive W. B. Mollveney, Invercargill polioe, and remanded.

Blenheim. Frederick Thoms is charged on warrant with the theft, on the 23rd Deoember, 1900, of £3 12s. 6d. Description: Supposed colonial, a station hand, about thirty-two years of age, 5 ft. 8 in. high, medium build, fair reddish complexion, light-brown hair, fair moustache, about a month’s growth of beard ; fond of drink; dressed in dark-brown tweed sac coat, and doth cap; carried a portmanteau and swag. Offender was secretary and treasurer for the Wairau Valley Sports Committee; he collected the above amount and appropriated it to his own use, and is supposed to have gone to Wellington on the 23rd ultimo by the s.s. “jPania.”

Westport. —D. M. Fairbairn, traveller for Stone, Son, and Company, Dunedin, reports stolen from his cabin in the s.s. “ Mawbera,” on the 10th December last, a black-leather case, resembling a pocket-book, containing receipts from photo, company, Dunedin, several papers on photography, two landscape photos, quarter-plate, of Port Chalmers, two proof photos, of Buffer Gorge, and a penny note book containing business memos. Suspicion attached to man, name unknown, who is suspeoted of stealing Henry S. Ruenert’s watoh. (See Police Gazette, 1900, page 279.)

Christchurch. —Sydney Smith reports that, on the 10th or 11th ultimo, his shop in Manchester Street was broken into, and the following stolon: A ladies’ open-faced silver Geneva watch, out of repair, glass missing, number unknown ; value, 15s.

Christchurch. —Francis Hunt, labourer, reports stolen from the showgrounds, Addington, on the 9th December last, a gentlemen’s Swift bicycle, No. 1470, a 22 in. frame ; value, £l2.

Christchurch. —George Elliott Goodwin, storeman, reports stolen from his vest, which was hanging in King and Co.’s auction-rooms on the 19th December last, a silver lever hunting-watch, case much worn, No. 6338, maker Benson ; value, £2 10s.

Christchurch. —On the 29th December last there was stolen from the office of the Southland Implement and Engineering Company, Manchester Street, a japanned cashbox, about 8 in. by 4 in., handle on top, has a small tray with three oompartments, containing two £1 notes, 15s. in silver, and a oheque for £2 10s. on the Bank of Australia, Invercargill, drawn by W. H. Heywood.

Kaiapoi. —Arthur Hassal, farm-labourer, reports stolen from Moran’s stable, on the 9th December, 1900, a gentlemen’s Remington bicycle, No. 113233, black 23 in. frame, Westwood maroon-coloured rims, bright spokes, rat-trap pedals, left pedal stiff, reversible handles, paint rubbed off left side of front fork, Dunlop tires, Hunt saddle, no lampbracket, a black-leather tool-bag on top bar containing three wrenohes; value, £l3.

Oamaru. —Michael Heads, hawker, reports stolen from his van at Mrs. Rodda’s house, on the 12th Deoember last, two £2O notes, a £1 note, numbers unknown, Bs. 6d. in silver, and two small bottles of scent. Not identifiable.

Dunedin. —Thomas Edward Shiel, auctioneer, reports that, on the 17th or 18th ultimo, his shop was broken into, and the following stolen : A florin very much battered on both sides and blackened, a threepenny-piece with a hole filled in with lead, and a 10 cent, piece, brassy appearance. Suspicion attached to Robert Edgeworth. Description: A native of New Zealand, about twenty-two years of age, about 5 ft. 8 in. high, stout build, dark oomplexion, dark curly hair, cleanshaved except small dark moustache; dressed in blue-serge suit, and dark-tweed cap.

Mosgiel, —On the 25th or 26th December last the Mosgiel Railway-station was broken into, and the following stolen : Twenty-three £1 notes, £lO in gold, £2 18s. 3d. in silver, £1 in threepenny-pieces, and a bag containing £2 in ooppers. Not identifiable. Entrance was effected by means of a skeleton key, the safe blown open with dynamite, and the above contents abstracted.

Otautau. —Bassett Dickson Ferrar reports stolen from his shed, on the 21st or 22nd December last, a grey-tweed suit of clothes, size 5, two dark and three grey woollen shirts, and four pairs of grey woollen socks ; value, £3 15s. 6d.
