Gisborne. —Robert Booth, settler, Mangapapa, reports stolen from the Royal Hotel Stables, Gisborne, on the 6th instant, a bright-bay mare, about seven years old, 15f hands high, a little white on one hind and one fore-foot, branded AR (conjoined) on near shoulder, value £lB ; and a colonialmade saddle, large knee-pads, large galvanised stirrup-irons, leather surcingle, and single-reined bridle with large rings in bit: value, £5 10s.

Dannevirke.— Joseph Devonshire reports stolen from his stables, during the night of the 27th ultimo, a steel-grey gelding, hack breed, about 15 hands high, no brand; a common saddle, broken across back and torn on top of each knee-pad; and a double-reined bridle. Suspicion attached to Edward Renwick, who was in complainant’s employ. Description: Supposed a native of New Zealand, about twenty-eight years of age, about 5 ft. 10 in. high, slight build, fair complexion, shaved except moustache, slight impediment in speech; dressed in a blue coat, brownish saddle-tweed trousers, and blue-serge cap. It is thought he may try to sell the horse between Dannevirke and Wellington.

Normanby. —Francis Stephen Canning, storekeeper, reports stolen from his yard, on the 23rd ultimo, a brown mare, hack breed, four years old, 15J hands high, black points, branded qC on near shoulder, shod all round : value, £25.

Lincoln.— The National Mortgage Agency Company of New Zealand (Limited) reports stolen from a paddock at Aylesbury, between the 12th July and 20th August last, fifty half-bred merino ewes, branded I in diamond-shaped oblong on shoulder with black paint, each ear forked thus M ; value, 10s. each.

Dunedin. —John Byfield, express owner, reports stolen from a paddock at Halfway Bush, on the 18th or 19th ultimo, a light-brown mare, light-harness breed, seven years old, 15 hands high, shod all round, off-ear split down the centre and curved inwards, short dark-brown mane, long tail, white star on forehead ; value, £lO. Suspicion attached to William Roberts, an expert horse-thief, who lives in the locality and drove a mob of horses down the Kaikorai Valley during the following day.
