Auckland. —Theft of James Bent Warner’s coat: Prank Pvans has been arrested by Constable J. Lipscombe for this offence, and sentenced to fourteen days’ labour. Coat recovered by Constable J. Mcllveney.
Whangarei. —Maud Philips, school-teacher, Kamo, reports stolen two new horse-covers, one having “ Miss Philips ” written in ink inside a corner; value £1 each. They W6re taken off her hors 9, one on the 16th and the other on the ISth ultimo.
Waverley. —Stolen from the Momohaki Railway-station, between the 30th ultimo and 2nd instant, a box, 18 in. by 14 in. by 10 in., labelled “ P. Gillanders, State Farm, Momohaki,” containing 141 b. of bluestono, 141 b. of aisenic, and 10 lb. of caustic soda; value, £1 16s.
Havelock (Marlborough).— Description of two men suspected of having, on the Ist or 2nd instant, broken into the store of William Brownlee and Go.—First: Supposed colonial, about twenty-three years of age, 5 ft. 10in. or 11 in. high, slight build, fair hair and complexion, cleanshaved, or may have a email fair moustache ; dressed in dark clothes, and soft black felt hat with narrow rim ; larrikin appearance. Second : Supposed Fnglish, about thirty years of age, about 5 ft. 6 in. high, medium build, shaved except heavy black moustache, very dark complexion. Two men answering their description were seen at the Grove on the 2nd instant, inquiring as to the track to Picton. Bach carried a small parcel tied up in a kerchief. The only thing missing from the stoie is a srnail empty sugar-bag having Brownlee’s private mark, “ ' '”or “ u,” and “ Ginger ” printed on the outside. Two chisels, a punch, and two sledge-hammers stolen from the shop of Alfred Scott, wheelwright, were found on the premises.
Reefton. —John Green, butcher, reports stolen from off a line, on the 26th or 27th ultimo, a blue-black cloth suit, nearly new, made by John Anderson, Reefton ; six pairs of woollen socks, four white-cotton handkerchiefs, and two silk handkerchiefs : value in all, £5 13s.
Dunedin. —Michael Henry Rodgers, clerk, reports stolen from the New Zealand Insurance Company’s building, Crawford Street, ou the 11th instant, a gentlemen’s Popular Swift roadster bicycle, No. patent indiarubber mud-guard ou front wheel; value, £lO.
