(From Gazette, 1899, pages 1166, 1167, and 1217. Wellington Acclimatisation District redefined. RANFURLY, Governor. IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” I, TJchter John Mark, Earl of Ranfurly, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint those parts of the said colony described in the Schedule hereto to be a district under the said Act, and I do further appoint such district to be known as the “Wellington Acclimatisation District” ; and I do hereby revoke all previous notifications defining the said district.

SCHEDULE. Wellington Acclimatisation District,

All that area in the Wellington Land District bounded towards the north-west and north generally by the Counties of Wanganui and Hawke’s Bay from the mouth of the Wangaeliu River to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence towards the east generally by the summit of that range to the Feilding an I District Acclimatisation District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 38, 4th May, 1899; thence towards the south-west, south-east, and northeast generally by that district and the Counties of Waipawa and Patangata to the sea at the mouth of the Waimata River; and tbeuce again towards the south-east, south, and west generally by the sea to the Wangaebu River aforesaid, including Kapiti and adjacent islands. The aforesaid area comprises the Counties of Hutt, Wairarapa North, Wairarapa South, Pahiatua, Eketahuna, Akitio, Horowhenua, and Rangitikei, and parts of the Counties of Manawatu and Oroua, together with the Boroughs of Carterton, Foxton, Grey town. Karori, Lower Hutt, Marton, Masterton, Melrose, Onslow, Palmerston North, Pahiatua, Petone, and City of Wellington. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine. W. C. WALKER.
