Appointments as Constables. Mcßae, John Murdoch, No. 847. Woods, Frederick, as District Constable at Ohaeawai on 17th instant, vice Hargraves, resigned.

Rewards. Sergeant R. J. Gillies, No. 157, Thames police, has been awarded £2 by the Auckland Acclimatisation Society for obtaining a conviction for illegally shooting native game. (98/740.)

Constable W. Grey, No. 510, New Plymouth police, has been awarded £2 10s. by Mr. R. Parris for tact and energy displayed in arresting and obtaining the conviction of George Girling for numerous thefts from gardens. (98/19.) Constable W. Ooughlan, No. 54, Clive police, has been awarded 10s. by the Customs Department for securing a conviction under the Beer Duty Act at Wairoa. (98/19.) Constable T. Hickman, No. 504, Pungarehu police, has been awarded £5 from the Reward Fund in recognition of his tact and energy in the arrest and prosecution of Enoka, convicted of wife-murder at Parihaka. (98/766.) Constable T. H. Smith, No. 679, Auckland police, has been awarded £4 for arresting four stragglers from H.M.S. “ Tauranga.” (98/19.) Constable F. A. Waterman, No. 801, Auckland police, has been awarded £2 for arresting two stragglers from H.M.S. “Tauranga.” (98/19.) Constable L. Mullany, No. 473, Fairlie police, has been awarded £5 by the South-Canterbury Acclimatisation Society for obtaining two convictions for illegally taking trout. (98/585.)

Sergeant J. W. Ellison, No. 106, Wanganui, and Constable John McGuire, No. 674, Wellington police, have been awarded £3 each for obtaining convictions against Jane Simpson, fined £25 and costs on each of three charges of slygrog selling. (98/836.)
