Auckland. —Harry Kneebone is charged on warrant, Jue@ on the information of John Lawson, Official Assignee, jLfchat he having been adjudged a bankrupt did abscond >m Hew Zealand without the permission of his creditors. Description : English, twenty-eight to thirty years of age, about -5 ft. 8 in. high, about 11 stone weight, fair florid complfexion, small sandy moustache only ; usually wore a lightblue coat and vest, light trousers, and light soft-felt prospector’s hat. May have with him a fawn-coloured collie dog pup, six or eight months old, with white streak or blotch on face. He was formerly in business at Paeroa as a barber and billiard-saloon keeper, and left for Sydney about the 10th ultimo, taking property with him to the value of £2O.

Auckland. —Henry Arthur is charged on four warrants of commitment to Mount Eden Prison for thirty-five days’ imprisonment, in default of paying £l7 ss. 5d., fines and costs, for breaches of “ The Sea-fisheries Act, 1894.” Description : A native of New Zealand, about twenty-six years of age, 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in. high, medium build, ruddy complexion, black hair and moustache only.

New Plymouth. —A man, name unknown, is charged on warrant with having, at Auckland, on the 22nd August, 1896, forged the signature of Josias Attrill, bootmaker, of New Plymouth, to a transfer document, thereby obtaining £2O 16s. Bd., the price of 250 Cardigan Gold-mining shares. Offender is supposed English or colonial, about forty years of age, about 5 ft. 7 in. high, dark hair, small dark eyes, shaved except small dark moustache; wore dark clothes. Can be identified by Mr. Burrows, mining agent, Auckland, from whom he obtained the money.

New Plymouth.— Harry Alderslade, charged with the theft of Leonard Taunton’s bicycle, has been arrested by Chief Detective W. Campbell, Wellington police, and remanded to New Plymouth. Bicycle recovered

Mastebton. William Gifford, alias Williamson, is charged on warrant with the theft, on the 23rd ultimo, /nia cheque for £7 55., the property of August Brown, labourer/ of Mauriceville. Offender is English, twentythre? of age, 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in. high, medium build, iitwsh/t complexion, shaved except small fair moustache; dressed in a serge coat and vest, dark-grey trousers, and slouched grey hat with broad brim. Complainant intrusted him with the cheque to cash it at the bank and he cleared out (supposed to Wellington) with the proceeds.

Upper Hutt. —Thomas Phillips is oharged on warrant of commitment to the Terrace (Wellington) Gaol for seven days, in defanlLof paying £2 75., fine and costs. Description: A native/pftfNew Zealand, a labourer, eighteen years of age, about//5 fit. 3 in. high, slight build, pale complexion, dark 'hair, very small dark moustache only. He is supposed to have gone towards Palmerston North in company with a young man named Ernest Sunnex, who resembles Phillips except that he (Sunnex) is fair.

Christchurch. —Between 8 p.m. on the 24th and 5 a.m. on the 25th ultimo the hackney stallion “ Zulu,” the property of William F. M. Buckley, and valued at £3OO, was maliciously stabbed in the neck and killed while in a loosebox at James Carleton’s stables, Riccarton.
