Eltham. —Thomas Wright, contractor, Normanby, reports stolen from a paddock near the Hunter Road, Eltham, between the sth and Bth ultimo, forty sacks of cocksfoot-grass seed ; value, £3O.

Manaia. —Thomas Langdon Joll, Okaiawa, reports stolen from his store, between the 13th and 15th ultimo, a men’s sac suit of dark mixed Kaiapoi merino tweed, size 5; a pair of men’s light-coloured Kaiapoi tweed trousers, same size; three dark-brown Melton cloth shirts, eaten by mice at shoulders; a large shawl-rug, medium-sized black-and-white check pattern; and an umbrella (since recovered):’value, in all, £5 ss. 6d. Suit and shirts identifiable. Maoris suspected.

Napier.— Gilbert and Co.. Dickens Street, report stolen from their stable, between the 6th and Bth ultimo, a pair of trap-winkers, nearly new, square shape, with stars, doublering bit, and forehead-banc! all of white metal, nickelplated buckles ; value £1 ss. Identifiable.

Wellington.— Andrew Buckley, traveller, 9, Willis Street, reports stolen from McDonald’s stables, between the 15th and 20th ultimo, a saddle and bridle, value £3. Since re-

covered at Griffith’s pawn-office, where they were sold by a man who gave the name of Wilson. Description: About twenty-six years of age, brown hair, clean-shaved except moustache; dressed in a light-tweed sac-suit and bard blackfelt hat.

Wellington. —James Poart, clerk, Austin Street, reports stolen from a dwelling in course of erection, on the 13ch or 14th ultimo, thirty-eight pieces of wall-paper, 10 yards of oilcloth, two planes, a brace and bits, a level, rule, square, pair of compasses, screwdriver, and chisel; value, in all, £6 10s. Some of the tools are marked “ J.P.” and “W. 8.”

Beetham ” in white letters, containing a ladies’ print skirt and blouse, a blue skirt, a blue-and-white-striped blouse, two white linen ditto, a whito-silk dress, a white petticoat, a small gold brooch with two birds on it, a cotton night-gown, a pair of tan shoes, two pairs of long kid gloves, a pair of tan stockings, a pair of black-merino ditto, and some handkerchiefs, vests, and ladies’ underclothing, marked “ Thyra ” or “T. T. Beetham ”; value, £2l.

Wellington. —On the 11th January last a parcel left at the railway-station for Mr 3. Humphries, of the Lower Hutt, was called for in her name, and delivered to a woman of the following description: viz., English, about thirty years of age, 5 ft. 3 in. or 4 in. high, thin build and features, dark hair; dressed in black, and black straw hat; respectable appearance. Her identification is doubtful. The parcel contained an electro plated teapot, a ladies’ Waterbury watch, and two silver bar-brooches, engraved “ Ruth ” and “ Marjorie ” respectively ; total value, £1 15s.

Lyttelton. Robert Morton, engineer, Norwich Quay, reports that, between the 13th and 15th ultimo, his shop was broken into and the following stolen : A £l note, £1 in silver; one set of J in. taps, one set of taps, and two sets of § in. taps; a pair of compasses ; six or seven files, 9 in. to 12 in.; about twelve cold-chisels, branded NA (conjoined) ; and a receipt for a bicycle from M. Mcßride, Christchurch : total value, £lO 17s. Suspicion attached to William Koskella and Alfred George Driscoll, who are still in Lyttelton.
