Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Wellington. —James McLean is charged on warrant of arrest, issued on the 24th instant, with failing to provide for the support of his unborn illegitimate child. Description : A native of the colony, twenty-three or twenty-four years of age, about sft. 9in. high, medium build, dark complexion, grey eyes, clean-shaved except slight dark moustache; has been employed building bridges, wharves, or similar structures, is a prominent footballer, and was one of the last Wellington representatives. Has a sister (Mrs. Flay) at Makuri, and a brother (Neill McLean), a bushman, in the Auckland District. Complainant, Hannah Mason, care of Robert Mason, cab-proprietor, Cuba Street.
Wellington. —Francis Clark Miller is charged on warrant of commitment to the Terrace Gaol for one month for disobeying an order of Court to pay £1 per week for the support of his three children. Description: A native of New South Wales, a printer, forty years of age, sft. Tin. high, stoutish build, fresh complexion, brown hair, clean shaved except fair moustache ; fond of drink ; takes a prominent part in labour matters. He was £5 in arrears on the 18th ultimo. Complainant, James Sharpe, Petone.

Oamaru. —Arthur James Ferris (not “ Farris ”), charged with failing to make future provision for Georgina Clarke. This warrant has been cancelled at complainant’s request.
