Extract from Victoria Police Gazette.

Walter Robertson Warner is charged on warrant with forgery on William Bones, estate agent, Doveton Street, Ballarat, at Ballarat, on the 6th instant. Description: Victorian, coachbuilder, twenty-four years of age, 6ft. high, about 11£ stone weight, dark complexion, dark hair, dark eyes, thin face, clean shaved but may let his moustache and side-whiskers grow, smart active appearance; wore a black paget coat and vest, light-coloured tweed trousers, a blue-cloth chesterfield overcoat, and a low-crown black softfelt hat. Left Geelong, en route to New Zealand, on the 17tli instant. Offender forged William Bones’s name to a cheque on the Union Bank, Ballarat, for £374, and received the money. On his arrest in the first instance the money was traced and recovered from his brother, Frederick Warner, at Geelong. Offender’s age is said by the Geelong police to be thirty years, by the Ballarat police to be twentyfour years.—o.7ll2. 28th August, 1895.
