Kamo. —James Neary reports stolen at Kaikau, Mangakahia, on the 28th September last, a black gelding, hack breed, about 15 hands high, branded PIN on near shoulder, hind legs white from hocks down, off forefoot white halfway up to cannon, white star on forehead, sixpence in near ear underneath skin; value, £7.

Waitotara. —John Cullinane, Mangaweliu, reports stolen, on the 17th or 18th ultimo, a chestnut hack mare, heavy in foal, about 15 hands high, branded HC (conjoined) on near shoulder, small grey patch on near hind quarter, shod all round; value £B.

Marton. —Edward Mortimer, charged with stealing Reremoana’s racing mare “ Moutoa,” was brought before the Wanganui Bench and discharged for want of evidence, no trace of the stolen mare having been obtained. Christchurch. —Stealing William Davidson’s pony, saddle and bridle (now recovered) : A man who gave his name as McAlister is charged on warrant with this offence. Description : About twenty-three years of age, sft. 7in. or Bin. high, slender build, sandy complexion, bright-sandy or red hair, small red moustache only, freckled face, thin features, smart appearance, said he was a shearer, and looked like one. Offender sold the stolen property at Rangiora on the 24th October, 1893. Suspicion is no longer attached to Alfred Cook.

Christchurch. —Thomas Castlehow, agent, Wertheim Sewing-machine Company, reports stolen from a stable in Armagh Street, on the Bth or 9th instant, a heavy darkbrown trap-mare, sixteen to eighteen years old,” about 14 hands high, white blaze down face, scar on nose, no brands, value £10; a spring trap, painted dark-brown, with lighter-coloured moulding, two-inch batten as footrest, two lamps, and a cushion, value £22 ; and a set of trap-harness, black leather and silver-mounted, “J. Bell, Dunedin,” stamped in several places, value, £8 10s. The property of Robert Lochhead, Dunedin.
