Aratapu (Auckland). —John Bascomb, Uparati, Northern Wairoa, reports stolen on the 21st or 22nd ultimo, a timberjack (identifiable), five timber-dogs, and two pieces of wirerope ; value £6 2s. Suspicion attached to Samuel Parkinson, residing in the locality.

Otahuhu (Auckland). —Thomas Johnston, saddler, reports stolen from his shop-door, between the 11th and 13th ultimo, a new 20inch-pipe dray-col!ar ; value £1 3s. Identifiable.

Danevirke. —Alexander Watt is charged on warrant with having, on the 30th ultimo, stolen a new tent, Bft. by 10ft., with fly; maker, Dobb; value, £1 155.; the property of Arthur Clement, Umataroa Block. Christchurch. —Barrett & Quick, Addington, report stolen from a quarry at Hoon Hay, on the 21st, a canvas horsecover lined with flannel, branded “ Admore, Christchurch,” underneath the lining on shoulder; value, 16s.

Christchurch. —Alfred Clark, commercial traveller, Carlton Mill Road, St. Alban’s, reports stolen from his fowlhouse, on the 27th ultimo, four Brahma hens and one rooster, light colour, with a little black around breast and shoulders; value, £2O.

Lyttelton. —Orton Bradley, farmer, Charteris Bay, reports stolen from a dressing-box at the Riccarton Racecourse, on the 11th or 12th ultimo, a silver-mounted ridingwhip, maker, Ashford, London; has horses in relief round the top, representing the start for a race, and complainant’s name engraved on a shield on one side; value £3. A reward of £2 is offered for its recovery.

Timaru. —Henry Nichols is charged on warrant with having, on the 23rd ultimo, stolen from a drying-ground at Washdyke, 871 b. of wool; value, £3 ss. 3d. (recovered); the property of William Henry Clarke. Offender is a colonial, a wool-dealer, eighteen years of age, sft. 7in. high, slight build, brown hair, none on face, sallow complexion, small features, nose slightly turned upwards, small eyes, stoops when walking, larrikin appearance ; dressed in a dark-tweed suit, and black-felt hat. He recently escaped conviction for a similar offence, and will probably endeavour to leave the colony.

Dunedin. —John Eadie, carpenter, South Dunedin, reports stolen from a house in course of erection in George Street, on the 27th or 28th ultimo, a trying-plane, jack-plane, smooth-ing-plane, two panel-saws, a tenon-saw, plough-plane, two claw hammers, six chisels, three bead-planes, a set of mitres, bevel, oilstone, brace, six bits, pair of compasses, an oilstone, and two baskets ; value, £6.

Middlemarch. —Stolen from a tent at Three O’Clock, Hindon, between the 25th May and 15tli July last, a campoven, pick, digger’s dish, two large hammers, pair of goldscales, and an American clock ; value, £2 ; the property of John Hansen, now undergoing a sentence of six months’ labour in Dunedin Gaol. Identifiable.

St. Batiian’s. — Stealing William Burnett’s rabbit-skins from Hawkdun Station : About 3,200 of the skins have been found hidden on the banks of the Manuherikia River, about three miles from the station.

Nelson. —William Rogers reports stolen from the Wakefield Quay, on the 27th or 28th ultimo, a circular copper anchor-lamp, wire guard all round, flat places about the size of a shilling ground on the glass about 2in. apart, handle at top ; value, £1 10s.

Reefton. —Thomas H. Lee, liquidator, Venus Gold-mining Company, reports stolen from Murray Creek, between the 24th July last and 16th ultimo, a copper battery-plate, about sft. by 4ft., containing amalgam ; value, about £lO.
