Absconding from Industrial Schools.

Christchurch. —Charles Brown absconded from the Burnham Industrial School on the 28th February, 1889. He is sixteen years of age, fair complexion, blue eyes, very light hair, medium height and build. Parents reside at St. Albans, and his grandfather, Arthur Brown, who also goes by the name of Hamilton, is in the Wanganui District.

Christchurch. —Louisa Dunn, licensed from the Burnham Industrial School, absconded from the service of Mr. Baddeley, Opawa, on the 27th June, 1891. Description:

Nineteen and a half years of age, medium height, stout build, full face, fair complexion, grey eyes. Her married sister (Mrs. Frost) lives in Broadway Street, Wellington.

If in respectable and comfortable situations, they need not be interfered with ; but a report should be made to the Inspector of Police, Christchurch.

Kohimarama Industrial School, Auckland.

James Marshall, seventeen years and nine months, absconded from the Costley Institute on the 2nd May, 1888, whilst there on probation. His stepfather, Alfred Marshall, resides in Riwaka, Nelson. Has the appearance of a halfcaste Maori.

David Milne, seventeen years and four months, absconded from the service of Francis Symes, Waverley, on the 12th August, 1890. Very stout build, dark-brown hair, fresh complexion. His father, John Milne, is head ploughman on the farm of Mr. John Grigg, Longbeach, Ashburton. James Blue, sixteen years and eight months, absconded 10th March, 1891. Stout build, fresh complexion, darkbrown hair. Parents reside in Cumberland Street, Dunedin. Thomas Keefe, fifteen years and eight months, absconded j 19th May, 1891. Fair hair, fresh complexion, stout. Parents//y reside in Tauranga. His father, John Keefe, is a shoemaker.

James Marshall, sixteen years and six months, absconded from the service of James Biddick, Kohimarama, in September, 1891. Stout, dark-curly hair. Speaks with difficulty, owing to an impediment in his speech. Mother resides in Auckland ; father a seaman.

George Jesser, fifteen years and four months, absconded from the service of Mr. Tighe, Instructor of the Blind, on the 28th October, 1891, whilst staying at the Central Hotel, Wellington. Stout build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair. The boy’s mother is alive, whereabouts not known. (See also Police Gazette, 1891, pages 209 and 217.) Albert Middleton, seventeen years and one month, absconded from the service of Robert U. Harden, Whangarei, on the Ist January, 1892. Tall for his age, dark, face freckled slightly. His father is an umbrella-mender and pedlar iry Auckland. The boy returned to Auckland from Whangarei., John Armstrong, fifteen years and six months, absconded on the 22nd May, 1892. He had but just returned from the service of Jonathan Enabling, of Papakura. Was sent to the school from Nelson. Is of stout build, light hair, fresh complexion.
