Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
Auckland. —Henry Hardwick is charged on warrants of commitment for two arid one month’s imprisonment, in default of paying the sums of £l2 7s. Gd. and £4 2s. Gd. for the maintenance of his children in St. Mary’s Industrial Schools at Ponsonby and Nelson respectively. He is a German, a sailor, fifty-five years of age, sft. 54in. high, medium build, fair complexion, grey eyes, lias a scar on left side of neclc. ; /oY w // •
Auckland. —Maud Dutleff is charged on warrant with failing to support an illegitimate child. She is of German parentage, formerly a barmaid, twenty-four years of age, dark hair, sallow complexion. Said to have been at the Star Hotel, Wellington, and subsequently at Gisborne, but inquiries made at these places have been unsuccessful.
Wellington. —Horace Victor failing to provide his wife, .Gatherum and child with adequate means of forty-seven years of ageWanout GItC/Jgjgh, Imhg ginger moustache, no whiskers; wears/brown /SjianaW-jprtrek suit. He was seen about the Ist ultimo going on board a steamer for Wellington, in Company with his sister. Complainant’s address is care of Messrs. Jellicoe and Glascodine, Wellington. i
(See Police Gazette, 1891, page 161.) William Duff, having failed to continue payments for the maintenance of his children, has been arrested by Detective E. Hughes, Auckland Police, and remanded to Wellington.

Daniel Tennant charged with wife-desertion, has been arrested by Constable B. O’Brien, Waverley Police, and remanded to Wellington.
(See Police Gazette, 1891, pages 161 and 172.) Christchurch. —John Archibald, charged with disobeying an order to support his two children, has been arrested by Chief Detective M. O’Connor and Constable T. Drake, Christchurch Police, and remanded on bail.
Gisborne. —Thomas McDonald (may assume the name of William Level) is charged on warrant with refusing to provide for the support of his illegitimate child by Kathleen Clirisp, since the 23rd ultimo. Description : A blacksmith, twenty-one years of age, sft. 7in. or Sin. high, broad-shoul-dered, well built, dark-brown eyes, short curly hair, dark complexion, regular features. Supposed to have gone to Dunedin. His parents reside at Papakoe, near Auckland.
