Dunedin. —Stealing from the yards of Julia Smith, Fillcul Street, Anne Clark, Duncan Street, and Violet Norman, York Place : Sarah Dow has been arrested for these offences by Sergeant M. J. Geerin, and sentenced to two months’ labour on each charge. Property recovered.

Supposed stolen on the sth ultimo, from the Woodville Railway-station, a brown-paper parcel, consigned by Robjohns, Hindmarsli, and Co., Napier, to J. H. Monteith, Woodville, containing seven pairs of childrens’ lace-up boots (one pair buff), sizes said to be 5 and 6, may be stamped “ Zealandia; ” value £1 2s. Gd.; the property of the Railway Commissioners.

Stolen on the 15th ultimo, from a trap at the rear of the Shades Hotel, Christchurch, an Australian bearskin rug, sft. or Gft. square, lined with fawn kersey ; value £5; the property of George Palmer, Union Bank.

Gd.; the property of George Sutcliffe, licensee. A ladies’ nightdress, new, embroidered front and cuffs, and a chemise with goffered front; value 165.; the property of Alice Sutcliffe. Also two ladies’ nightdresses, embroidered at backs and fronts, hand-made, two chemises with fine lace fronts, and a pair of embroidered drawers; value £3; the property of Sarah Goodisson.

Stolen between the 15th and 30tli ultimo, from a clothesline in the yard of P. A. Phillips, Alten Road, Auckland, a pair of woollen drawers, rather worn, an old flannel singlet, a grey-crimean shirt, a broad white-silk tic, a wliite-muslin pinafore, a coarse white-canvas apron, and a claw-hammer ; value 15s. Supposed identifiable.

Stolen on the 30th ultimo, from the Devonport Ferry Company’s storeroom, North Shore, Auckland, a large silvermounted briar-root pipe, amber mouthpiece, branded three Bs in a diamond near bowl; value 7s. Gd. ; the property of Andrew Johnson. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 25th or 2Gtli ultimo, from a clothes-line in the garden of Charles Harris, 127, Kilmore Street, Christchurch, a pair of men’s brown-cotton drawers, a ladies’ turk-ish-red dress, about 4£in. of frill at bottom, and a dark navy-blue dress, with black lining, and a small tear at bottom ; value £1 7s. Identifiable.

Stolen between 7.30 and 9 p.m. on the 3rd instant, from the porch of Wesley Hall, Pitt Street, Auckland, a black mackintosh with capo, nearly new ; value £1 155.; the pro j perty of William Holdesworth; identification doubtful/ A black-serge overcoat, tailor-made, with a piece in lining of breast; value £1 10s. ; identifiable ; the property of Walter, Flatt. And a dark-grey mackintosh, rather worn, a hole in each skirt-pocket; value £1 10s. ; the property of David Crabtree; identifiable.

Stolen on the 6th instant, from the premises of Dr. Thomas Cahill, Terrace, Wellington, a jet-black vvavy-liaired retriever, looks like a black setter, answers to the name of “ Major.” Also a white pointer, with lemon-coloured forehead and ears, answers to “ Grouse this dog, being of the Spanish type, has peculiar large head and ears, with heavy chops and flews, resembling a bloodhound. It is requested that a lookout may be kept for some months at the various ports, as it is considered they have been stolen for sale in Australia, and that vessels arriving there from this colony may be searched. Stolen between 7 p.m. on the 7th and 8 a.m. on the Bth May last, from the yard of the Travellers’ Rest Hotel, Drummond, Southland, a single-seated buggy, painted brown with red lines, German coat-of-arms in gold on each side, close leather-lined back of seat with leather cushion, lamp-socket on each side of seat; value £2O; the property of Lindley Bowerman, travelling-agent for the Picturesque Atlas Company. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 4th or stli instant, from a portmanteau on board the s.s. “ Rotorua,” at the Rattray Street Wharf, Dunedin, seven sovereigns ; the property of William Mercer, a greaser. Suspicion attached to a middle-aged man, name unknown, sft. lin. or 2in. high, stout build; dressed in a grey suit. Can be identified.

Stolen on the 7th instant, from a railway-carriage between Otaliuliu and Drury, Auckland, a black waterproof-coat, no cape, red or magenta lining, third button missing, wire nail in left pocket, nearly new ; value £2 10s. ; the property of Charles Shipherd, Pukekolie. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 3rd instant, at Shotover Creek, Thames, a small black-leather purse, nearl}' new, two compartments, containing a bank-note and 4s. in silver ; the property of James Tasker. Stolen from complainant’s coat-pocket, outside a drive. • Purse identifiable.

Charles Kempton and John Morrison are charged, on * warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with having, on the 20th ultimo, stolen from an auction-mart in Manners Street, Wellington, a deerskin rug (recovered); value £4; the property of George W. Smart. Kempton is a native of the colony, about twenty-one years of age, sft. Sin. high, fair > hair and complexion, slight fair moustache only ; said to be well known at Wanganui ; frequents brothels. He left for Auckland by the s.s. “ Takapuna ” on the 13th instant. Morrison is described at page 121 of this year’s Police Gazette; whereabouts not known. Offenders gave the rug to Eva Smith, a prostitute.
