Thomas Chandler is inquired for with the view of compelling him to pay £l3 6s. arrears for the maintenance of hisiA son, an inmate of St. Mary’s Industrial School, Nelson. /.* Description : English, a cook, often works as a drayman, Labout thirty-five years of age, about sft. Bin. high, slender if build, fair hair and complexion, shaved except small mou- v stache, stoops when walking. He was heard of as at Wanganui on the 19tli April last, and spoke of going to Auckland, but cannot be traced at either place. Information to Inspector of Police, Wellington.
Inquiry is requested for William Bickerstaff, Scotch, usually works at fellmongeries, wool-scouring and classing, or rabbit-poisoning, forty-seven years of age, sft. 7in. or Bin. high, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair beard whiskers and moustache, turning grey, speaks quickly, very fond of drink ; generally dressed in dark coat, light cordtrousers, and soft black-felt hat. Was at Beck’s, in the St. Batlian’s District, about the end of February last, and expressed an intention of going to Canterbury to look for work. He was £l2 10s. fid. in arrears for maintenance of his children in the Caversham Industrial School, up to the 30th April. If found it is requested that the Inspector of Police, Dunedin, may be informed as to what he doing, and his ability to pay the amount. /?& -
Missing from Anderson’s Bay Road, Dunedin, since 7.40 p.m. on the 12th ultimo, William Whittock, Scotch, a Customs messenger, forty-six of years of age, sft. 9in. or lOin. high, brown eyes, pale complexion, black hair beard whiskers and moustache, beard slightly tinged with grey, and cropped to about an inch long ; dressed in dark-blue-serge suit, darktweed overcoat, white shirt, and black tie; very quiet and reserved disposition; when under the influence of drink becomes dazed and stupid. His cap and pipe were picked up near the side of the road, about one hundred yards from his house, next morning, and it is probable ho may have fallen or thrown himself into the harbour.
Inquiry is requested for Alexander Simpson, a Swede, but has lived in Scotland, and speaks good English, a baker or cook, thirty-eight years of age, sft. sfin. high, stout square build, fresh complexion, fair sandy hair, fair beard and moustache, shaved on cheeks, large blue eyes, sullen appearance, a widower, generally wears grey-tweed suit, and soft black-felt hat; fond of drink. Last heard of at Lawrence about the Ist May last, and will probably be found in the interior of Otago or Southland. He was £2B 10s. in arrears for the maintenance of his children in the Caversham Industrial School on the 30th April, and has already served a sentence for disobeying the order. (See Police Gazette, 1891, page 81.) It is requested that a report may be furnished to the Inspector of Police, Dunedin, as to his present ability to pay any portion of the amount owing.

William Schultze is inquired for with the view of proceeding against him for disobeying a maintenance order. Description : A Prussian, a miner and gardener, forty-one years of age, sft. Sin. high, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, large nose. Was discharged from Wanganui Gaol on the 16tli December last (see Police Gazette, 1890, page 245), and stated he was returning to Mahakipawa, where he had been arrested, but cannot be heard of there. His family is supported by the Charitable Aid Board. Information to Inspector of Police, New Plymouth.
James Young is reported missing from Tainui Street, Greyrnouth, since about midnight on the 14th ultimo. Description: Scotch, a baker, about thirty-eight years of age, about sft.' Sin. high, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair whiskers and moustache, whiskers rather thin ; dressed in dark-grey tweed sac-coat, no vest, liglittweed trousers, light-check regatta shirt, new light-tweed hat, small turned-up rim, and new elastic-side boots;
married. His dwelling and bakery were destroyed by fire a few days previously, and he was in low spirits before he disappeared.
Clara Rogers is inquired for with a view of taking steps for recovering arrears (about £55 45.) for the maintenance of her children in the Caversham Industrial School. Description : Supposed English, a widow, thirty-five years of age, sft. 3in. high, slender build, fair hair and complexion, rather good-looking. Said to have been at Christchurch, where she was formerly a barmaid, about twelve months ago, but cannot be traced there now. Information to Inspector of Police, Dunedin.
Thomas Leahy’s whereabouts is requested in order to serve upon him a notice of imprisonment for six months for disobeying an order of the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, to pay 15s. a week towards the support of his two children. Description: A native of Auckland, a bootmaker, thirty-six years of age, sft. Sin. or 9in. high, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark moustache only, full round face, blue eyes, smart active appearance ; frequents publichouses. Was at John Daulton’s flaxmill, near Awahuri, on the Bth ultimo. Photograph at Inspector’s office, Wellington.
