Extracts from Victoria Police Gazette.
(Prom Gazette, 1891, pages 71, 84, and 89.) (See also Neio Zealand Police Gazette, 1891, page 61.) Frederick Peterson has been arrested by the Port Melbourne C. I. Police for stealing from William Weeks, and nearly all the property stolen has been recovered. Offender gives his name as Charles Peterson. —0. 1551, 27th February, 1891.
A warrant of commitment has been issued by the Fitzroy Bench against Ben O’Brien for a month’s imprisonment, in default of payment of debt and costs. Description : An expublican, about forty years of age, sft. llin. high, stout build, square shoulders, fair hair prematurely grey, very fresh complexion, round full features, moustache and sideboards ; generally wore black-frock suit and round drab hat with black band. Said to have gone to New Zealand.— 0. 2140, 12th March, 1891.
Edward Bogg is charged on warrant with larceny as a servant of £B6B 7s. from the Melbourne Storage Company (Limited), 15, Market Buildings, Flinders Lane West, Melbourne, on the 10th instant. Description : Accountant, about thirty years of age, sft. 6in. or 7in. high, stoutish or thick-set build, lame in one leg and wears an iron support attached to one boot, and in walking appears to drag one foot, darkish complexion, dark-brown moustache only ; wore blue-cloth paget-coat and vest, bluish striped trousers, and brown boxer hat. Wore single-stone diamond ring and gold watch and chain. A son of the late Rev. Mr. Bogg. His wife lives in Wattletree Road, Armadale. A great gambler, and bets on races, &c. Offender was employed as accountant by the company. On the above date he received a cheque for the amount named, he cashed the cheque and absconded, and has not been seen in or about Melbourne since.—o. 2213, 17th March, 1891.
