i Alfred William Croft is charged, on warrant issued by the Gisborne Bench, with having on the 12th December, 1889, at Gisborne, embezzled the sum of £35 Bs. in the bankrupt estate of Andrew Graham. Description: F.nglisli, forty-five years of age, a clerk, and lately Deputy Official Assignee in Bankruptcy, sft. lOin. high, slight build, sharp

long features, fair complexion, fair hair beard whiskers and moustache, bad teeth, erect walk, with slight halt, usually wears stud in collar, no necktie, wears eyeglass, and heavy long-linked gold chain outside his coat, generally smoking cigarettes, gentlemanly appearance; supposed dressed in dark-tweed suit with blue-check in pattern. Was seen on ss. “ Manapouri,” at Gisborne, on the Bth instant, going north. His defalcations amount to about £4OO.

Sydney. —£soo Reward. —Joseph R. Bradley (may assume the name of Aylett) is charged on warrant with embezzling £760 belonging to the English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank, Sydney, on the 4th November, 1889. Description: Thirty-four years of age, sft. 7in. high, brown hair moustache and small whiskers; late manager Devonshire Street branch of above bank. Last seen in Sydney on the 13th instant. Adelaide. —A Bench-warrant has been issued for the arrest of Thomas Doyvnife for not appearing tq Lis bail at the Supreme Court on inmant to stand his trial for assaulting, with jntfent Oatway. Description: yejCrs of ftgpffSft. (Min. high, strong build, fair yspfnplexiopo redden hair and moustache only, blue to tattoo dots on hack of left hand ; a Victorian ; known to magsmen as “Red Mick,” and victimises the public with the purse-trick. Arrest very desirable.—(9l/330.)

John Cullen is charged, on warrant issued by the Kawakawa Bench, with failing to appear in answer to a summons charging him with illegally removing kauri-gum from Crown lands at Puhipuhi, Bay of Islands, on the 29th ultimo. Description: Irish, about forty years of age, about sft. sin. high, stout build, short bull neck, dark complexion, darkhair and moustache slightly grey, has about a week’s growth of beard ; speaks with very noticeable accent. Is supposed to be still about Puhipuhi, but will probably leave the district.

John Dunn, alias Ellison, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with having on the Ist instant, at Wellington, assaulted Frederick Goston, with intent to do bodily harm. For description see Police Gazette, 1891, page 32. Supposed gone to Blenheim. He was implicated in the assault with William Crowley and Henry Poulson, who have been arrested and committed for trial.

Neil Thompson is charged on warrants (two) with having, at Wellington, on the 9th and 12th ultimo respectively, libelled Mary McKenzie, of Woodville, by writing and publishing to her two letters containing false and defamatory matters. Description : A native of County Antrim, Ireland, a farmer, fifty-seven years of age, sft. lOin. high, medium

build, broad shoulders, right shoulder high, ruddy fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark hair turning grey, regular nose, large mouth, long uneven dirty teeth, prominent chin, walks erect, leans slightly to the left side, speaks with North of Ireland accent; when last seen wore grey clothes and soft black-felt hat.

Christopher Henry Ruthven is charged on warrant with larceny as a bailee on or about the 3rd ultimo, at Pahiatua, Wellington District, of a watch (since recovered) ; value £3; the property of William Syme. Description: Supposed English, a watchmaker, about thirty-five years of age, about sft. Gin. or 7in. high, rather large round head and face, clean-shaved except small brown moustache, brown hair, fair complexion ; dressed when last seen in dark-tweed suit, hard black-felt hat with rather flat leaf; supposed now in Christchurch. Owing to a dispute concerning the amount charged for cleaning, complainant left the watch with the offender, who sold it as his own property to John Mcßeth for £2 10s., and left Pahiatua shortly afterwards.

Adolph and Carl Reiss, fraudulent bankruptcy : Photographs of these offenders are now in the Commissioner’s Office. It is stated that the former was born on the sth July, 1858, and the latter on the 21st January, 1860, both at Frankfort. There is supposed to be very little resemblance between the two.
