Stolen between 10.30 p.m. on the 4th and 9 a.m. on the sth ultimo, from a stable in Regent Street, Auckland, an ordinary riding-saddle, full size, chafed pommel, six months in use, white-woollen lining, rusty stirrup-irons, and a bridle with new reins, white forehead-band, and iron bit; value £4 Is.; the property of William Earle, 256, Queen Street. Identifiable.

Stolen during the night of the 28th or morning of the 29th ultimo, from a line in the yard of William Keymer, Norfolk Street, Ponsonby, Auckland, a black-serge sac-coat, large size, back and sleeves faded, lining of one sleeve undone, not much worn ; value 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between 6 p.m. on the 2nd and 9 a.m. on the 3rd instant, from a buggy at the back of the premises of Patrick Gill, Masterton, a pair of carriage-lamps with german-silver tops, makers’ names, “ G. W. and J. Walker, London,” inside; value £1 ss. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Samuel Good. Description: English, a labourer, about twenty-eight years of age, about sft. llin. high, medium build, fair complexion, light hair, small fair moustache only. Living at Upper Plain, and known to Masterton Police. His premises were searched, under a warrant, but the lamps not found.

Stolen between 8 and 9 p.m. on the 23rd ultimo, from off a horse in an open stable attached to the Presbyterian Church, Myross Bush, near Invercargill, a half-worn colonial riding-saddle with one white girth and round stirrup-irons, new knee-pads, points of flaps repaired and newly stuffed ; value £3; the property of William Aitken, Woodlands. Identifiable.

Stolen between 6 p.m. on the 29th and 7 a.m. on the 30th ultimo, from a tail-race at Manuka Flat, near Dunganville, Westland, about two pounds’ worth of alluvial gold; the property of George Bufton. Chinamen in the locality suspected.

Od.; a gold wedding-ring, value 7s. 6d.; an oval-shaped gold brooch with a little black hair inside and “In memory ” written on it, value 10s.; a pair of silver-plated nut-crackers, value 2s. Gd.; a gold bracelet, inlaid with black composition, value £1; an imitation-gold bracelet with bar and chain attached, value 10s.; and a brooch made of amber beads, value £1 ; the property of William Livingston, Queen Street, Dunedin. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 3rd or 4tli instant, from the Takapuna Racecourse, Devonport, near Auckland, two pieces of iron chain, one 17yds. long, oval links ljin., not much worn ; the other 15yds., same links, excepting a split one in the centre ; value £2. The property of the Takapuna Jockey Club. Identifiable.

Supposed stolen between 10 p.m. on the 4th and 11 a.m. on the sth ultimo, from off a horse that broke loose from the yard of the Whakatane Hotel, Whakatane, Tauranga District, a pigskin riding saddle, in use about eighteen months, newly stuffed and lined, right knee-pad new, new piece of leather on pommel, a scratch 4in. below pommel, one stirrup-leather with silver stirrup-iron, a surcingle, leather girth, and common bridle with snaffle-bit; value £5 10s.; the property of John Grigsby. Saddle identifiable. Suspicion attached to Tulii, a Maori, about thirty years of age, short, thick set, black moustache; known to police.

Stolen on the 25tli or 26th ultimo, from the Kamo Coal Company’s mine, Kamo, near Whangarei, four weights, two 561 b., one lewt., and the other 2cwt., together with an iron bar 16iu. long and £in. in diameter, an iron hook on one end and cone-shaped weight on the other ; value 15s. The 2cwt. weight is identifiable.

Stolen between the Ist and 3rd instant, from a tail-race at New Chum Gully, near Arrowtown, Otago, a quantity of washdirt, containing about 4oz. of gold; value £ls 25.; the property of John Souter, Bracken’s Gully.

Stolen between the 18tli and 20th ultimo, from No. 2 Jetty, Auckland Wharf, three sacks of oats, branded S 7 over 147 in square, value £1 10s. ; the property of William E. Anderson, Mechanics’ Bay. Identification doubtful.

Stolen on the 6th instant, supposed at about noon, from the railway goods-shed, Dunedin, a box of “Juno” tobacco, weight 271 b. ; value £5 2s. Bd.; the property of the Railway Department. The box was marked “ Dover, G and I,” by which it could be identified.

Stolen between 10.45 p.m. on the 9tli and 7.30 a.m. on the 10th instant, from the dining-room of the s.s. “ Mawliera,” at Greymoutli, the following articles belonging to Mr. Lawrence Frost, engineer of the vessel: A sage-green melton-cloth overcoat, sleeves newly lined with lightcoloured liair-cloth, three or four rows of stitching round ends of sleeves, black-bone buttons, two side pockets, one outside, the other inside, two inside breast-pockets, and a matchpocket, value £4; a pair of dark-brown-kid gloves, value 4s. 6d., and a wliite-silk handkerchief, value 35., were in the pockets. Identifiable, except the handkerchief. Also a light-coloured cloth dust-coat with small throat-strap, brown lining, two side pockets, a breast-pocket, and match-pocket; the pockets contained a tobacco-pouch marked KH in yellow-silk thread, a pair of dark-coloured kid gloves, and a briar-root pipe; value in all £1 6s. 6d., the property of Mr. Kenneth Hume, purser. Identifiable. Twenty free-labour passengers, who remained on board all night, left by early train for Brunnerton, and it is thought that one of them may have the stolen property with him.

Stolen on the 14th instant, from the saloon of the s.s. “Rotorua,” at Lyttelton, a yellow-leather satchel bound with straps, containing a pair of dark-woollen gloves ; value £1 Bs.; the property of Samuel Gorman, traveller for Dalgetty and Co., Dunedin. Identifiable.
