Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting Ellen Nesbett, nee Robbins, a native of the colony, thirty-three years of age, sft. 3in. high, slight build, fair complexion, long features. She left Onehunga on the 21st April last by the steamer “ Gairloch ” for Waitara, under the name of Ellen Robbins, in company with Robert McWatt. Description: A native of the colony, a busliman, twenty-seven years of age, sft. llin. high, large bones, red beard and moustache. She may have remained at Waitara with McWatt, or may have gone to Westport with him, where he was previously employed as a bushman. She is inquired for at the instance of her husband, who resides at Aratapu.

Information is requested respecting William Todd, a native of the colony, a blacksmith, twenty-three years of age, sft. Sin. high, stout square build, dark complexion, dark brown hair, clean-shaved except small dark moustache. He was near Wyndham about three months ago. He is inquired for so that he may be proceeded against for a breach of the Fisheries Conservation Act committed at Waikaka on the 14tli February last.

Information is requested respecting George Pearson, a native of Adelaide, a labourer, forty years of age, sft. 6in. high, stout build, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, right hand cut between forefinger and thumb, causing the thumb to be contracted and drawn across the palm of hand. He left Makure, near Paliiatua, about December last. He is inquired for with a view of proceedings being taken against him for disobeying an order of Court to provide for the maintenance of his wife and three children.

William Rooney, a native of Ireland, bailiff to the Resident Magistrate’s and Warden’s Courts, Cromwell, fifty-two years of age, 6ft. high, brown hair beard whiskers and moustache, a piece out of left nostril; dressed in light-brown-tweed paget-suit, hard black-felt hat, and supposed elasticside boots with new half-soles, nailed, is missing from Cromwell since the 17th ultimo. He served for a number of years in the Otago Police. About 6.30 p.m. on the 17th ultimo he was seen on the Clyde Road, about six miles from Cromwell, riding a horse in the direction of Cromwell. The horse was then very restive, and, it is feared, threw him, and being stunned or mistaking his way he may have fallen into the Molyneux River and been drowned. The horse arrived at Cromwell about 7 p.m. riderless.
