Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
George Mitchell is charged, on warrant issued by the Auckland Bench, with disobeying an order, since the 26th July last, to pay 7s. 6d. per week towards the support of his illegitimate female child by Alice Riley. Description: A saddler by trade, but works as a gumdigger, about thirtyfour years of age, about sft. 7in. or Bin. high, stout build, round-shouldered, sallow complexion, brown hair beard whiskers and moustache, one leg slightly crooked, causing him to walk a little lame. He is supposed to be on some of the gumfields north of Auckland. The child is being supported by the Charitable-aid Board, Auckland.

Henry Jones and William Hart, charged on warrants of commitment to gaol in default of paying ss. fine and 7s. 6d. costs each for a breach of tlio Blenheim Borough bylaws, have been arrested by Constable Lawrence Carroll, Wellington Police. Fines and costs paid.
Arthur Perham is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with disobeying a summons to appear at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Christchurch, on the 14th March last, to show cause why he should not contribute towards the support of his mother, who is destitute. Description : A native of the colony, a labourer, twenty years of age, sft. 6in. high, about lOsc. weight, blue eyes, straight nose, brown hair, no hair on face ; generally dresses smartly. He spoke of going to Tasmania, and is supposed to have got married.

The warrant issued by the Wellington Bench for the arrest of Daniel Davis for deserting his wife and children has been cancelled.
