Appointment as Constable on Transfer from Permanent Militia. James Swain, No. 589. Resignation. Constable Charles Edward Lloyd, No. 468,
Rewards. The sum of £1 has been awarded by Captain Miller, of the barque “Countess of Rollers,” to Constable George Sinclair, Bluff Police, in recognition of his services in arresting Henry Anderson and John Lowes, two of the crew, sentenced to four months’ labour each for stealing a coil of rope on board the barque, and for the arrest of Duncan Sinclair, committed for trial for receiving the coil of rope knowing it to be stolen. The sum of £3 has been awarded to Sergeant William Lyons, Auckland Police, for the arrest of a deserter from Her Majesty’s ship “ Dart.” The sum of £5 has been awarded by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society to Constable Daniel O’Donoliue, Kaiapoi Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Henry Featherston, convicted for illegally netting trout, and of Maurice Phillips, convicted for having trout in his possession.
