Alfred Robin is charged, on warrant issued hy the Wellington Bench, with having, on the 21st May, the 30th July, and the sth September last, at Wellington, embezzled £6 Os. 3d., £lB 10s., and £ls 6s. Id. respectively, the moneys of the Gear Meat-preserving and Freezing Company of New Zealand, by whom he was employed. Description : English, a clerk, twenty-three years of age, sft. 9in. high, medium build, fresh complexion, brown eyes, dark-brown hair, lightbrown moustache, and mutton-chop whiskers, smart gentlemanly appearance. He was committed for trial at the Supreme Court, Wellington, on the charges referred to, and admitted to bail, himself in £IOO and two sureties of £SO each, but when called upon on the 3rd ultimo to stand his trial he failed to appear. He was last seen in Wellington on the 28th September last.

Robert Fergusson, charged on warrant with having indecently assaulted Caroline Charlotte McTeague, at Otipua, surrendered to the Timaru Police, and has been discharged.

A man, name unknown, is charged with having indecently exposed his person to Maude Raymond and others on the Otipua Road, near Timaru, between 3 and 4 p.m. on the 18th ultimo. Description: Middle age, long black whiskers. Identification doubtful.

Judah Barsht is charged, on warrant issued hy the Ashburton Bench, with having, on the 17th ultimo, at Ashburton, obtained £1 10s. from William Stephen Wilson by false pretences. Description : A Jew, a hawker, twenty-one years of age, 4ft. lOin. or llin. high, medium build, active, full

features, dark hair and eyes, small dark moustache, dark skin ; when last seen was dressed in dark-tweed suit and hard black hat. He is well known to jewellers in Canterbury, and his father is a tailor in Christchurch. He represented himself as a traveller for the Australian Jewellery Importing Company, Christchurch, and obtained the money as a deposit on a watch and chain, which he promised to forward. There is no such company known in Christchurch. There are several other charges of a similar nature pending against him. He was seen in Christchurch on the 24th ultimo.

Between 7 and 8 p.m. on the 16th ultimo, at Cromwell, a wire was maliciously tied about Ift. from the ground to each side of the gate of the main entrance leading from Donegal Street to the English Church, with the intention of tripping members of the congregation when leaving the church.

A. O. Stodart, alias Ting Stodart, whose proper name is supposed to be A. Octavius Stodart, is charged, on warrant issued by the Auckland Bench, with having, on the 15th August last, at Auckland, forged and uttered a promissory note for £9 10s. to James Rae. Description: A native of Ireland or the colonies, recently employed as a gumdigger, about twenty-five years of age, sft. 7m. high, very slight build, sallow complexion, long thin features, dark hair, no hair on face except (supposed) small dark moustache, blue eyes, very large ears, small rat-like teeth, screws his mouth aside when speaking, when walking usually keeps his hands behind him; supposed dressed in blue-serge suit and soft black hat. His father was formerly a sharebroker in Auckland, but now lives in Sydney. The promissory note purports to be signed by C. G. B. Gore, and to be indorsed by T. D. Cleghorn, both residents of Auckland. He is supposed to have gone to some of the gumfields in the Auckland District.

About 9 p.m. on the 20th ultimo, at Kaikoura, Christchurch District, a milk-pan and other property, belonging to Charles M. Maddock, was maliciously damaged to the extent of about ss.

Joseph Cryer, alias Crier, is charged, on warrant issued by the Coalgato Bench, with violently assaulting Elizabeth Wonacott, at Glentunnel, on the sth ultimo. Description : A native of the colony, a shoemaker, sixteen years of age but looks older, about sft. sin. high, medium build, dark hair and complexion, rather thin features; when last seen was dressed in an old blue-cloth overcoat, dirty stripedmoleskin trousers, and old drab-felt hat with broad brim; carried a swag wrapped in a blue-and-white-striped counterpane, in which it is supposed he had a good suit of mixed tweed. He was seen at the Rakaia Railway-station on the 7th instant, and is supposed to have gone south hy train. He is also charged with escaping from custody. (See Police Gazette, 1887, page 214.)

On the morning of the 29th ultimo, at Ross, a valuable cow, the property of Honora Minahan, was maliciously fired at and wounded about the head and face and other parts of the body with shot-pellets.
