And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall bo issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each; and the Chief Postmaster at Auckland is hereby appointed to issue and sign the said licenses. And Ido further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall bo issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and the Chief Postmaster at Dunedin is hereby appointed to issue and sign the said licenses. Prohibiting Licenses on certain Native Lands,

(1.5.) Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERVOIS, Governor. A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twenty-fifth section of “ The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor, on the application of the owners of any block or area of Native land on which no publican’s license has been hitherto granted, may, by Proclamation in the Gazette, declare that no license shall be granted within such block or area, and it shall not be lawful for the Licensing Committee to issue any license to take effect within any block or area so proclaimed : And whereas the owners of the Native land described in the Schedule hereto, and on which no publican’s license has hitherto been granted, have applied to have the said section brought into force within the boundaries of the said land : Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, hereby proclaim and declare that no license shall be granted within the area of Native land described in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE

Upper Wanganui Licensing Area. Ale that area in the Provincial Districts of Wellington, Taranaki, and Auckland, bounded towards the North-east generally by the Aotea and the Okaliukura Blocks from the Wanganui River to Ruapehu Mountain; thence again towards the North-east and towards the South-east by a straight line to the source of the Wangaehu River; and thence by that river to the ITeao Block; thence towards the South-west and again towards the South-east by the said Heao Block and the Paratieke Block and the northern boundary-line of the latter block produced across the Mangawliero River; thence by the said Mangawliero River to its confluence with the Mungakowai Stream; thence again towards the South-west by that stream to the northwestern corner of the Ohineiti Block; thence towards the South by a line being the production of the northern boundary-lino of the last-mentioned block to the Karewarewa Block ; and thence bv that block to Te Komai Trig. Station ; thence again towards the South-east by the said Karewarewa Block and the Parihouhou and the Aratowaka Blocks ; again towards the South-west by the Pukenui Block to the Wanganui River; thence across that river, and towards the East and South generally by the said Wanganui River to its confluence with the Kauarapaoa River; thence again towards the South-west generally by the last-mentioned river to the

Kauarapaoa Block; thence by that block, the Manganui-o-tahu Block, the Mangapapa Blocks Nos. 1b and lc, the Mangaporau Block, the Mangapapa Block No. 2, the Kaitangiwhenua Block, and the Mangaotuku Block to the Pohokura Block ; thence towards the North-west by the said Pohokura Block to its easternmost corner; thence by a straight line to the confluence of the Tangarakau River with the Wanganui River; and thence by the latter river to the Aotea Block aforesaid. Licensing Districts defined. (1.5.) Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERVOIS, Governor. A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “ The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette , from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same :

Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the Alfredton, Castlepoint, and Masterton Licensing Districts, which shall, from and after the twelfth day of April instant, be those described in the First Schedule hereto; and do hereby proclaim and define the part of the colony mentioned and described in the Second Schedule hereto to be, from and after the said twelfth day of April instant, an ordinary licensing district for the purposes of the said Act. FIRST SCHEDULE.

Wairarapa North County. Alfredton Licensing District. Alt that area in the County of Wairarapa North bounded towards the North-east and North by the County of Waipawa; towards the South-east by the Castlepoint Licensing District, hereinafter described; towards the South generally by the. Upper Taueru Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 70, of the 18th June, 1884; towards the South-west generally by the Mauriceville Road District, as described in Gazette No. 23, of the 15th April, 1886; and towards the North-west by the Counties of Horowhenua and Oroua: exclusive of the Paliiatua Town District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 41, of the sth August, 1886.

Castlepoint Licensing District. All that area in the County of Wairarapa North bounded towards the North-east by the County of Patangata; towards the South-east by the ocean ; towards the South-west by the County of Wairarapa South ; towards the North-west by the said County of Wairarapa South to the Taueru River; thence by a line along the middle of the said Taueru River to the Upper Taueru Road District, as described in the Neiv Zealand Gazette No. 70, of the 13th June, 1884 ; thence by that road district, the Alfredton Road District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 51, of the 30th September, 1886, and the Paliiatua Road District, as described in the Neiv Zealand Gazette No. 125, of the Ist December, 1883. Masterton Licensing District.

All that area in the County of Wairarapa North bounded towards the North-east and North generally by the Alfredton Licensing District, hereinbefore described; towards the South-east by the Castlepoint Licensing District, hereinbefore described, and the County of Wairarapa South ; towards the South-west by the said County of Wairarapa South; and towards the North-west by the County of Horowhenua.

SECOND SCHEDULE. Wairarapa North County. Paliiatua Licensing District. All that area in the County of Wairarapa North known as

the Paliiatua Town District, as described in the New Zealand Gazette No. 41, of the sth August, 1886. Extending the Close Season for Rock-oysters in the County of Coromandel.

ORDER IN COUNCIL. At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of March, 1887. Present: The Honourable the Minister for Public Works presiding in Council. WHEREAS by “The Fisheries Conservation Act, 1884” (hereinafter termed “ the said Act ”), it is, among other things, enacted that the Governor in Council may from time to time make, alter, and revoke regulations for the purposes therein mentioned, which said regulations shall have force and effect only in any waters or places specified therein: And whereas by Order in Council dated the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, certain regulations were made, in exercise of the powers conferred by the said Act, prescribing a close reason for rockoysters, and extending the close season for such oysters until the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, in respect of the County of Coromandel and the foreshores adjacent thereto : And whereas it is expedient to further extend the close season for rock-oysters in respect of the County of Coromandel and the foreshores adjacent thereto : Now, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said Act, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said colony, do hereby make the following regulation : The close season for rock-oysters prescribed by the regulations made under the said Act by Order in Council bearing date the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-five, and which by the said regulations was extended for such oysters until the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, in respect of the County of Coromandel and the foreshores adjacent thereto, is hereby further extended from the said thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven, until the thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight, in respect of the said County of Coromandel and the foreshores adjacent thereto. Any person committing a breach of the above regulation shall be liable to a penalty of not less than one pound and not exceeding fifty pounds.
