Death. Constable Michael Fitzpatrick, No. 295. Head-quarters removed.

The head-quarters of the Waikato Police District have been removed from Kihikihi to Hamilton West, and those of the Thames District from the Thames to Tauranga.

Police-station formed. A police-station has been formed at Pahiatua, in the Wellington District.

The sum of £3 has been awarded to Sergeant Joseph Barrett, Westport Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Martha Milton and John Munro, fined £5 and £5 ss. respectively for sly grog-selling, and Timothy Gallagher, fined £6 ss. on two charges of sly grog-selling.

The sum of £2 2s. each has been awarded by the Equitable Insurance Company to Constables Patrick Bowman and Charles L. Daubney, Lawrence Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the inquiry held relative to the malicious burning of a four-roomed house at Beaumont, the property of John Donaldson.

The sum of £8 has been awarded to Constable Edward Mackay, Auckland Police, for the arrest of James Dwyer, a deserter from Her Majesty’s ship “Nelson.”
