(From Gazette, 1886, page 254.) Bringing Sections 105 to 115 of “ The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,” into force in certain Districts.

(L.S.) Wm. F. DRUMMOHD JERVOIS, Governor. A PROCLAMATIOH.

WHEREAS by “The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to declare that, from a day to be in such Proclamation fixed, sections one hundred and five to one hundred and fifteen, both inclusive, having special reference to persons of the Hative race, or such of those sections as shall be in such Proclamation specified, shall come into operation in such districts of the colony as shall be in such Proclamation specified, and until so proclaimed, and in places not included in any such district, such sections shall not be in force : How, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of Hew Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities so vested in me as aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after the eighth day of March instant, sections one hundred and five to one hundred and fifteen, both inclusive, having special reference to persons of the Hative race, shall come into operation within the following Resident Magistrates’ districts, as the same are now defined under the said Act: — Bay of Islands District. Whangarei District. Kaipara District. Papakura District. Waikato District. Raglan District. Hauraki District. Taupo District. Tauranga District. Maketu District. Opotiki District. Waiapu District. Poverty Bay District. Hapier and Waipukurau District. Wairoa District. Taranaki District. Patea District.. Wanganui District. Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, Lieutenant-General in Her Majesty’s Army, Knight Grand Gross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of Hew Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same ; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this third day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six. Licensing Districts altered.

WHEREAS by the sixth section of “ The Licensing Act, 1881,” it is enacted that the Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be after the commencement of the said Act, by Proclamation in the Gazette, from time to time define districts to be licensing districts under the said Act, and from time to time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the same : And whereas it is expedient to alter and redefine the boundaries of the Districts of Patangata, Porangahau, and Waipawa:

How, therefore, I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of Hew Zealand, do hereby, in pur-

suance and exercise of tlie power and authority vested in me by the said Act, alter and redefine the boundaries of the said districts, which shall henceforth be those described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE. Patangata County.

Patangata Licensing District. —All that area in the County of Patangata bounded towards the North generally by Hawke’s Bay County; towards the South-east by the ocean to Blackhead; thence towards the South-west by Blocks XXXVI., XXXIII., 1., IV., 11., and XXVII., Blackhead Survey District, Blocks XXVI. and 11. aforesaid, LXXV. and LXXIV., Pourerere Survey District, and Blocks LXXI., XL., XV., LXXXIV., and LXXXV., Motuotaria Survey District, to the Tangatupuru Stream ; and thence towards the West generally by the Waipawa County. Porangahau Licensing District. —All that area in the County of Patangata bounded towards the North-east by the Patangata District, hereinbefore described ; towards the South-east by the ocean ; towards the South-west by Wairarapa East County; and towards the West generally by the County of Waipawa. Waipawa County. Waipawa Licensing District. —All that area in the County of Waipawa bounded towards the North-east generally by the County of Hawke’s Bay ; towards the South-east generally by the County of Patangata ; towards the South-west by the Waipukurau and Ruataniwha Ridings of the County of Waipawa ; and again towards the North-east and towards the North-west by the County of Hawke’s Bay aforesaid.
