George William Bbigiiam is charged, on warrant issued by the Ohinemutu Bench, with having, on the 20th July last, at Rotorua, uttered a forged cheque for £lO to Charles Clayton. Description: A native of Yorkshire, a surveyor, about thirty years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, well built, sandy complexion, sandy hair inclining to red, thick reddish moustache and whiskers; when last seen wore new browntweed suit and hard black-felt hat. He was at Maketu on the loth ultimo. He may have gone to Cambridge, or some of the Native settlements in the King country, or Taupo. He was surveying in the Taupo District about two years ago, and is married to a Maori. He attends race-meetings, and owns the racehorse “ Zulu.”

Between the 23rd and 28th ultimo, at Granville, Westland District, a wire fence, the property of William Potham, was maliciously cut and damaged to the extent of 10s.

Joseph Bland, charged on warrant with embezzling £590, the property of Stewart, Dawson, and Co., was arrested in Melbourne on the 10th instant.

youths, named Walter Proudfoot, Arthur Stevenson, and John Kershaw, of Sussex Square, whom complainant declines to prosecute.

Between 9 and 10 p.m. on the 2nd instant, at East Invercargill, a pane of glass, value 12s. Gd., was maliciously broken in the sitting-room window of the dwelling of William Gair Maclray.

George William Brigham, charged on warrant with uttering a forged cheque for £5 to William Villars, at Petane : It is now stated that the forged cheque was uttered on or about the 20tli September last, and not on or about the 20tli ultimo.

On the 17th August last, at Wairio, Southland District, a forged order, purporting to he signed by John Berrill, farmer, Wairio, was sent by post to Messrs. Whittingham Brothers and Instone’s branch store, Thornbury, directing that a case of whiskey be sent to Woodlaw Railway-station for Mr. Berrill. The case of whiskey was duly forwarded, but the forgery was not discovered until a demand for the payment of the whiskey was sent to Mr. Berrill. A resident of the district suspected.

On the 6th or 7th instant a pane of glass, value £2, was maliciously broken in one of the windows of the shop of the New Zealand Clothing Factory', at Grcymoutli.

James Patrick Casey, alias James Mcasey, charged on warrant with having uttered a forged cheque to Forbes M. Dawson, at Pukerau, Southland District, has been arrested by Constable Samuel Stacey', Duntroon Police.

Francis William Martin is charged, on warrant issued by the Oamaru Bench, with having, at Oamaru, on the 9th August last, and on divers other days, embezzled £ll3, the property of the Oamaru Woollen Factory Company', by whom lie was employed as clerk. Description: Irish, a clerk, about twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, medium buikl, fair fresh complexion, light-brown hair, clean-shaved except fair moustache and very small side-whiskers, rather large mouth and thick lips ; generally wears dark paget-coat, dark vest, light-coloured trousers, and hard black-felt hat; fond of billiards ; was formerly a bank clerk in Ireland. Ho is supposed to have gone to Sydney.

On the 6th instant a fiat-bottom boat, 12 feet by 2£ feet, value £2 10s., the property of Mary F. Dehan, which was tied with a new painter to a post near the wharf at Okarito, was maliciously let adrift, and has not since been recovered.
