Deserters from Her Majesty’s Service.
(See Police Gazette, 1885, page 185.) Joseph Newman, charged with deserting from Her Majesty’s ship “ Diamond,” at Sydney, has been arrested by the New South Wales Police.
William Thomas Parks is charged with deserting from Her Majesty’s ship “ Opal,” at Sydney, on the 25th ultimo. Description: A native of Brighton, Sussex, an ordinary seaman, second class, nineteen-and-a-half years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, dark complexion, grey eyes, dark-brown hair. A reward of £3 is offered for his arrest, in addition to £5 reward offered by the Colonial Government.
John G. Harrison is charged with deserting from Her Majesty’s ship “ Myrmidon,” at Townsville, Queensland, on the 7th September last. Description : A native of Houghton, Durham, a leading seaman, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 6£ inches high, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, and brown hair. He is an athlete and a runner of considerable ability, and will probably attend athletic sport meetings. A reward of £3 is offered for his arrest, in addition to £5 reward offered by the Colonial Government.
George J. Matthews is charged with deserting from Her Majesty’s ship “ Myrmidon,” at Port Darwin, Queensland, on the 29tli September last. Description: A native of Soho, London, an ordinary seaman, second class, nineteen years of age, 5 feet G inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, and hazel eyes. A reward of £3 is offered for his arrest, in addition to £5 reward offered by the Colonial Government.
