Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting Annie Carey, alias Thompson, alias Mary O’Callaghan, a domestic servant, thirty-one years of age, about 5 feet 2 inches high, stout build, fair complexion. She left London about the 29th February, 1875, for this colony, and was heard of from The Wood, Nelson, in 1877. Before leaving England she resided at Platt Street, Camden Town. A woman who was known at Nelson as Annie Thompson, and who is supposed to be the person inquired for, was married at Nelson to Joseph Carey, a labourer, and left there with her husband in January, 1879, for Hawera or Masterton, but neither she nor husband can now be found at either of the places. She is inquired for at the instance of Philip McCarthy, Richmond Buildings, Dean Street, Soho, W., London.

Information is requested respecting Joseph James Webb, a native of London, a compositor or reader, fifty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, gentlemanly manner. He left Liverpool in July, 1875, for Adelaide, but is now supposed to be in this colony. It is believed he obtained an appointment as railway stationmaster. He is inquired for at the instance of W. Webb, tailor, 25, Bisby Gate Street, Bury St. Edmunds, England.

Information is requested respecting Daniel Morane, a native of Ireland, a labourer, about forty years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, beard whiskers and moustache turning grey. He left Greymouth for Wanganui about ten months ago. Ho is inquired for at the instance of his wife, with a view of compelling him to support her and his five children.

Information is requested respecting Charles Wilson, a native of Holland, a seaman, generally employed on coastingvessels, about forty-five years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, thin features, high cheek-bones, brown hair, dark red scraggy beard whiskers and moustache. Speaks good English. His wife used to be of very intemperate habits. He was at Lyttelton in June, 1883. He is inquired for in order that he may be proceeded against for the support of his two children, who are inmates of the Burnham Industrial School.

Information is requested respecting William Green Owen, a native of England, a drapers’ assistant, twenty or twentyone years of age but looks younger, about 5 feet 3 or 4 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, no hair on face except small dark moustache. He left Hakateramea Station, Canterbury District, about six weeks ago for Christchurch. He is inquired for so that he may be proceeded against for the support of his illegitimate child by Mary Hurring.

Information is requested respecting Neil Sillars, Scotch, a labourer, twenty-six years of age, 6 feet high, fresh complexion, brown eyes and hair, no hair on face, Roman nose, small mouth, large forehead, smart active appearance, addicted to drink. He arrived in the colony when a child. He was heard of at Timaru on the 16th December last. He is inquired for at the instance of his sister, Mrs. Wilson, Makarewa, Southland District.

Information is requested respecting John Williamson Clark, a native of Old Hartlepool, County of Durham, a midshipman and labourer, twenty-eight years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, squints with left eye, very good-looking. He arrived in the colony by the ship “ Lanarkshire,” in April, 1878, and left the ship at Wellington. He was heard of in the Taranaki District in November, 1883. John Harrison, who in November last was employed at the meatpreserving works, Hawke’s Bay, may know where he is. He is inquired for at the instance of his parents.

Information is requested respecting Sweeton McGregor, sometimes called Johnny McGregor, who left his father’s residence at Oamaru on the 15th June last, and has not since been heard of. Description: Fourteen years of age, 4 feet 6 inches high, stout build, pale complexion, thin

features, blue eyes, fair hair; dressed in black coat, darktweed trousers and vest, grey check-tweed hat, and lace-up boots.

Information is requested respecting David Hogan, a native of the colony, a labourer, thirty-four years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, medium build, dark-brown hair, brown beard whiskers and moustache. He served in the police, and was stationed for several years in the Auckland District, and subsequently in Dunedin, Wellington, and Blenheim. He was discharged from the force at Blenheim on the 19th September, 1883. Ho was heard of at the Auckland Timber Company, Auckland, in May last. He is inquired for at the instance of his brother, John Hogan.

Information is requested respecting Alexander Murchison, a native of Victoria, a carpenter, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, blue eyes. He was heard of at Christchurch about three years ago, and is still supposed to bo in the Canterbury District. He is inquired for at the instance of his mother.

Information is requested respecting Frank Johnston, a native of England, a plumber, forty years of age, 5 feet 5 inches high, fresh complexion, full eyes, fair hair beard and moustache, cheeks shaved, nose broken; usually wears darktweed suit and black hard felt hat. He was seen at Caversham about the 14th ultimo. He is an important witness in the case of Stephen S. Hutchison, awaiting trial at the October sittings of the Supreme Court, Dunedin, on a charge of fraudulent bankruptcy. He is inquired for in order that he may be bound over to attend at the trial.
