Stolen on the 22nd or 23rd ultimo, from the clothes-line of Elizabeth Scroggie, at Geraldine, a sheet and a towel, marked “ E. Y. S. Eckford,” and a white-damask tablecloth, not marked, value £l. Sheet and towel identifiable.

Stolen between the 7th and 14th ultimo, from Bishop’s Grove, Leith Yalley, Dunedin, a coil of barbed wire, about 1041 b. weight, “N C Dunedin 104” marked on frame; the property of the Right Rev. Bishop Neville ; value £1 14s.

Stolen about the 16th February last, at Earori, near Wellington, a 3-gallon galvanized-iron bucket, value 45.; and on the 28th June last an iron crowbar, about 3£ feet long, one of ends pointed like a chisel, value 55.; the property of William Standen. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 22nd June last, at Waihao Downs Station, near Waimate, a handsaw, a hammer, a tomahawk, and a pair of shears for cutting tin, all branded WAIHAO DOWNS on handle, several dozen dahlia-plants, 31b. or 4lb. of scullery parsley-roots, and a small quantity of mixed flower- and lettuce-seeds; the property of John Douglas; value £4 10s. Tools identifiable. Suspicion attached to James Alexander, who was employed as gardener on the station. Description: Scotch, about forty years of age, 5 feet G inches high, medium build, fresh complexion, reddish hair, full red beard whiskers and moustache. He went to Dunedin.

Stolen between 6 p.m. on the 9th and 10 a.m. on the 11th ultimo, from the railway-siding at Mill Road, near Invercargill, six pigskins and a case full of tallow ; the property of Alexander Darling ; value £6 4s. sd. Tallow not identifiable ; identification of pigskins doubtful.

Stolen on the 30th ultimo, in the Exhibition Buildings, Wellington, six balls of twine; the property of Hall, Thorpe, and Co.; value 6s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 10th and 19th ultimo, from a goodscase on board the steamer “ Penguin,” between Dunedin and Picton, or in the railway goods-shed, Picton, two pairs of lace-up boots, Derby pattern, two rows of nails in soles, with a row of brass tacks between them, and a double row of brass tacks in shanks, two rows of stitching round sides, one pair differs in size, the right boot being size 7, and the left size 9; the property of Edward Dew Carlton; value £1 17s. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 17th ultimo, from the office of the Registrar of Marriages, Foxton, the register of marriages book, 14 inches long, 9 inches broad, and £ inch thick, marblepattern cover with red back; the property of Samuel Marsden Baker. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 11th ultimo, from the cart of John Elder, at Timaru, a single-breasted dark - brown - cloth overcoat, lined with black material, black-velvet collar, two sidepockets, one of sleeves torn at elbow, and a pair of boys’ lace-up boots, partly worn, size 3 or 4; value £1 17s. 6d. Identifiable.

Supposed stolen on the 20th June last, from the railwaystation at Hastings or Napier, a corn-sack addressed to Kinross and Co., Napier, containing a code of nautical flags consisting of nineteen, a house-flag of the firm of Shaw, Savill, and Co., and a flag of which no description can be obtained; all nearly new; the property of Messrs. Kinross and Co.; value £lB. Identifiable. The bag may have been put by mistake on board the steamer “ Wairarapa” or the steamer “ Manapouri,” which were at Napier on that day.

Stolen between the 15th and 20th ultimo, at Tataraimaka, Taranaki District, a coil of barbed wire about 1501 b. weight; the property of Arthur Standish; value £2 7s. Identification doubtful.
