Incendiarism.

About 1.30 a.m. on the 15th ultimo, at Winton, a stable, a cart-shod, and a bakehouse, the property of John E. Black, value about £l3O, were maliciously set on fire, and were, with contents, destroyed. The contents consisted of two horses, a spring-cart, a dray, harness for cart and dray, a few bags of oats, 4 tons of flour, £ ton of potatoes, and other property. The property was not insured.

During the night of the 12th ultimo, at Pukekura, Auckland District, a combine and elevators, the property of Archibald Wallace, value about £2OO, were maliciously set on fire, by which they were destroyed. They were insured in the Norwich Union Office for £4OO, which is about double the amount they were worth.

On the evening of the 20th ultimo, at Flag Swamp, near Waikouaiti, a stack of oats, a stack of straw, and a piggery, the property of David Wilson, value £4O, were destroyed by fire, which, it is supposed, was maliciously caused. Tho property was not insured.

About midnight on the 16th ultimo, at Titapua Creek, near Mataura, two stacks of wheat, value about £75, the property of Jabez Allott, were maliciously set on fire, by which they were destroyed. The wheat was insured for £SO in the National Office.

About 10 p.m. on the Bth ultimo, at Wrey’s Bush, Southland District, a stable, value £4O, the property of Francis Cassidy, was maliciously set on fire, by which it was destroyed.

The stable was insured in the North British and Mercantile Office for £IOO.

On the 10th or 11th ultimo, at Wantwood Estate, near Mandeville, Southland District, two stacks of barley, value £l5O, the property of the New Zealand Agricultural Company, were destroyed by fire, which, it is supposed, was maliciously caused. The stacks were insured in the National Office for £ll2 10s.

Between 9 p.m. on the sth and 2.30 a.m. on the 6th ultimo, at Heddon Bush Plain, Southland District, five stacks of oats and two stacks of barley, the property of Thomas Meredith, were maliciously set on fire, by which they were destroyed. The stacks were insured for £275 in the Victoria Office, which amount is considerably in excess of what they were worth.
