Orr and Co., and other business-men, in Ashburton, to Constable David Latimer, Ashburton Police, in recognition of the vigilance and courage displayed by him in connection with the arrest of Henry Dudley, committed for trial on two charges of breaking and entering.

The sum of £4 has been awarded to Constable Patrick McCormack, Lyttelton Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ Waitangi.”

The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Sergeant William Hanlon and Constables Henry Porter, Frederick Beattie, Daniel Bogue, and George Cowen, Port Chalmers Police, for the arrest of four seamen for being absent without leave from the steamer “Kaikoura.”

The sum of £5 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Detective Alexander Henderson, Dunedin Police, in recognition of his special exertions in connection with the arrest and prosecution of Charles Fowler, sentenced at the late sittings of the Supreme Court held at Dunedin to five years’ penal servitude for housebreaking and larceny.

The sum of £3 each has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Detectives Thomas Neil and Maurice O’Connor, Christchurch Police, in recognition of their seal and energy in connection with the recovery of about £IOO worth of property, stolen by John William Crabtree, for which he was sentenced to three years’ penal servitude at the late sittings of the Supreme Court, Christchurch.
