The sum of £2 10s. has been awarded to Constable George Sinclair, Akaroa Police, by Mr. Thomas Whelch, of German Bay, in recognition of his services in discovering by whom two stacks of hay (Mr. Whelch’s property) were set on fire.
The sum of £2 has been awarded by the Auckland Acclimatization Society to Constable Joshua Hutcheson, Devonport Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Wilson, convicted of a breach of the Animals Protection Act.
The sum of £2 10s. each has been awarded by the Auckland City Council to Sergeant Richard Gamble and Constable Dews, Auckland Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the prosecution of John Smith, convicted of unlawfully slaughtering on the premises of Richard Sandall.
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable James Christie, Wellington Police, by Mr. Francis Sidey, in recognition of his services in connection with the arrest and prosecution of two vagrants found on Mr. Sidey’s premises in Manners Street.
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable James Christie, Wellington Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ Timaru.”
The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable Patrick Fleming, Masterton Police, by Mr. Thomas Price Girwood, in recognition of his prompt action in extinguishing a fire on the roof of his dwelling, thereby saving the house from destruction.
The Newtown Police-station, Wellington, has been removed from Adelaide Road to Normanby Street.
The police-station at Alexandra, in the Lake District, will for the future be known as Alexandra South.
