Stealing Otherwise than from the Person or from Dwellings.

Herbert Provst, Henry Benjamin, and Edward Crouch, seaman, are charged, on warrants issued by the Mongonui Bench, with stealing, on the 12th ultimo, from Mongonui, a boat, 16 feet long, painted white with blue streak, square stern, the property of John Rhodes; value £lO. Identifiable. Description: Provst is French, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 6 inches, stout build, dark complexion, clean-shaved. Benjamin is a mulatto, eighteen years of age, 5 feet 3 inches high, black curly hair. Crouch is English, twenty-two years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, sandy hair, no hair on face. They deserted from the whaleship “ Adeline Gibbs,” at Mongonui, stole the boat from off the beach, and were last seen in her going towards Russell, Bay of Islands.

Thomas Lloyd, alias John Williams, is charged, on warrant issued by the Port Chalmers Bench, with stealing, about the 30th ultimo, from the cabin of the ketch “ ITuon Bell,” at Port Chalmers, a pair of field-glasses, value £l, since recovered ; the property of D. Hanning. Description: A native of Wales, a seaman and cook, about thirty-eight years of age, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair whiskers and moustache. He is supposed to be employed on hoard the “ Anna,” Bluff Harbour.

Description: Supposed English, between twenty-three and twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, medium build, dark complexion and eyes, clean-shaved except moustache ; dressed in blue-serge suit, coat bound with black braid, tight-fitting trousers, and reddish-brown soft felt hat with low crown. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 4th instant, from the back door of the residence of Mr. Perryman, Reed Street, Oamaru, a parcel containing seven woollen table-covers, different patterns, green, black, and crimson colours, some with gold embroidery ; the property of John Bullied and Co.; value £5. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 10th April last, from Windsor, Otago, two bails containing 500 cornsacks; the property of John Conlin; value £l6 10s.

Stolen on the 30th ultimo, at Ngapara, a small light hogskin saddle with flat knee-pads, about half worn, the property of Alfred Ernest Cameron, value £3 10s.; and anew carriagerug, 5 by 4 feet, one side imitation-sealskin, the other side tortoiseshell colour with four black-and-red-stripes down centre, the property of John Conlin, value £1 ss. Saddle identifiable.

Stolen during the night of the 3rd instant, from an outhouse at Prebbleton, Canterbury, a ham, a pig’s head, a shin of beef, and eighteen eggs; the property of Thomas Earnshaw; value 15s.

Stolen on the Bth instant, from the yard of John McDonald, Moray Place,'Dunedin, a large white rabbit, long woolly fur, a piece of skin tom off back ; value Is. Identifiable.

Supposed stolen on the 3rd or 4th instant, from off a horse at Manaia, a nearly new unbleached canvas horse-cover lined with drab felt, JPA on outside, 72 over A on inside, breaststrap made of canvas web on buckle side and of leather on the other side; the property of John A. Aldridge; value £1 3s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 7th and 9th instant, from off a double furrow plough, at Mataura, the land wheel and lever, maker William Gardiner, Mataura; wheel made of cast iron, lever made of wrought iron; the property of George Wiliamson ; value £2 ss. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 16th instant, from the shop-door of Michael Sheehey, Courtenay Place, Wellington, a flax door-mat, 23 inches by 36 inches, a red stain thereon from chemicals, twisted-rope pattern, diamond in centre ; value 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Stolen on the Ist ultimo, from the verandah of the house of Frederick Nutter, Pitt Street, Auckland, a gentlemen’s new brown-silk umbrella, light-coloured handle, with round hook, value 18s.; and a ladies’ brown-silk umbrella, with dark-coloured T handle ; value 10s. Both identifiable.
