Extracts from Victorian Police Gazette.

(From Police Gazette, 1883, pages 115, 143, and 149.) —Muller is charged on warrant with uttering a forged cheque on the 2nd instant. Description: German, fifty-five years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy to grey beard whiskers and moustache; wore grey or dark suit and yellow helmet. George Jenecke is now in custody for presenting the forged cheque to the Colonial Bank of Australia, Melbourne, on the above date, and he states that he received the cheque from Muller. The cheque was for £l5O, and purported to be signed by Campbell, Pratt, and Co., auctioneers, Kirk’s Ilorse Bazaar, Melbourne.—O. 2577. —24th April, 1883. —Muller, on warrant for uttering a forged cheque: This offender is identical with Albert Muller, who about six years ago lived in Union Street, McDonald Town, Sydney. He then had a hansom cab, which he drove about three years ; prior to this he was a fireman on the railway. He sold the cab, and came to Emerald Hill, Melbourne. He frequents the racecourse of all the colonies, where he associates with sharpers and magsmen. Amended description : Prussian, about twenty years in Australia, and speaks English well, fifty years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy to grey hair beard whiskers and moustache, grey-tweed suit and yellow helmet hat.—O. 2577. —19th May, 1883. John Black is charged on warrant with embezzling £6OO 7s. 6d., the money of the Oriental Bank Corporation, Melbourne, between August, 1882, and May, 1883. Description : Forty-eight years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, dark-brown hair turning grey, clean-shaved, swaggering gait, when walking swings his right hand; wore, when last seen, a brown-tweed overcoat with a black beaufort coat underneath, a pair of light-tweed trousers, and black hard felt hat. He was in the employment of the bank for the last twenty years, and till the 25th instant lived in Punt Koad, Richmond, when he left. He has a brother-in-law named Mooney, a saw-mill owner, living at Toongabbie, Gippsland, and another named Strong, of the firm of Thomson and Strong, Dunedin, New Zealand.—O. 3312. —28th May, 1883.
