Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
Thomas Shields, alias Limerick, is charged, on warrant issued by the Lyttelton Bench, with deserting from the ship “Soukar,” at Lyttelton, on the 19th or 20th ultimo. Descrip-
tion : Irish, an able seaman, fifty years of age, 5 feet 6or 7 inches high, slight build, brown hair beard whiskers and moustache turning grey, slightly pockpitted. A reward of £2 will be paid for his arrest if effected before the vessel leaves Lyttelton.

Stewart Harris, charged on warrant with deserting from the barque “ Dumbartonshire,” has been arrested by Constable Denis Guerin, Waimate Police, and remanded to Lyttelton.
Gustave Alongren, Johann Yannson, and Andrea Torkilasen are charged, on warrant issued by the Lyttelton Bench, with deserting from the schooner “ Norma,” at Lyttelton, on the 3rd or 4th instant. Description : Alongren is a Swede, an able seaman, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, black hair, full black beard ; dressed in blue sailors’ clothes. Yannson is a Swede, an able seaman, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fair complexion, small fair beard and moustache. Torkilasen is a Norwegian, an ordinary seaman, twenty years of age, 5 feet 2 inches high, fair hair; wore blue-serge suit. A reward of £5 ss. each is offered for their arrest if effected before the vessel leaves Timaru.
Charles Dolberg and J. Severn, able seamen, are charged with deserting from the barque “ Electra,” at Bluff Harbour, on the 10th or 11th instant. Description : Dolberg is a Swede, about thirty years of age, 5 feet 11 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair and eyes, clean-shaved except small dark moustache, a boil on one of cheeks; wore dark overcoat, dark-tweed trousers and vest, and hard black bat. Severn is a Swede, about twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fair complexion, no hair on face; wore dark-cloth coat, darktweed trousers and vest, and black-velvet cap. A reward of £2 each is offered for their arrest.
