Constable Thomas Carroll, No. 748. Constable Alfred Parkinson, No. 1755. Rewards. The sums of £4, £2, and £3 respectively have been awarded by the Auckland Acclimatization Society to Constables Charles O’Reilly and William Coughlan, and Special Constable Henry Parker, Whangaroa, Kawakawa, and Waiuku Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the prosecution of W. Dobson, T. Hawthorne, A. Buesmister, and Houghton and Griffiths, fined for breaches of “ The Protection of Animals Act, 1880.”

The sum of £2 10s. has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Morgan O’Flaherty, Christchurch Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Henry W. Ottaway, fined £6 on two charges of sly grog-selling.

The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable John Keating, Lyell Police, in recognition of his commendable exertions in connection with the pursuit and arrest of Coleman Phillips, alias Stratford, sentenced at the late sittings of the Supreme Court, Nelson, to six years’ penal servitude for horse-stealing.

The sum of £8 each has been awarded to Constables George Foreman and Patrick Bourke, Auckland and Whangai'ei Police, for the arrest of George Gitsham and Edwin Leed, deserters from Her Majesty’s ship “ Nelson.”

The sum of £2 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Railway Constable Samuel John May, Dunedin Police, in recognition of his praiseworthy promptitude in connection with the recovery of stolen property and the arrest of Joseph Antoni,

sentenced to three months’ labour on two charges of stealing in a dwelling.

The sum of £3 lias been awarded from the Reward Fund to District Constable Wong Gye, Clyde Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Robert Glenn, fined £5 and costs for sly grog-selling.

The sum of £4 has been awarded by Mr. G-. A. Chalmers to Detective Robert Bain, Dunedin Police, in recognition of his services in recovering Mrs. Chalmers’s stolen jewellery, for the theft of which Lily Copley was sentenced to one month’s labour.

The sum of £6 has been awarded to Constable Edward P. Bird, Hawkesbury Police, for the arrest of three seamen who deserted from the ship “ Canterbury,” at Port Chalmers.

The sum of £1 has been awarded by the Ancient Order of Foresters to Constable Henry John Kirton, Wellington Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of William Johnson, convicted of maliciously breaking windows in the Foresters’ Hall, Tory Street.
